“All you need”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

I can recommend this hotel. We were on a one night stay while attending the Festival theatre and despite being off-season the place was warm and friendly. Breakfast was very nice and promptly served.

The room was dated fittings-wise and the toilet a bit cramped with a rather low flow shower. Bed was comfy enough.

Why is it you can never get TEXT on hotel Tvs?

Overall though Craigvrack has all you need.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

After reading the previous review, I must say I think these people must be mixed up with somewhere else! The staff were fab and the owners fantastic. Alan gave us great info on what to see/do and a history lesson too which we loved, that was at breakfast. In the bar later on in the evening he then gave us a whisky tasting session and priceless info on whisky. I had no idea there was so much to it. We were treated like friend are were very sorry to leave after our 2 night stay. I also must say one of the cleanest places I have Everett stayed in, and the views from the bar & breakfast room are stunning. We will be back and with friend in tow. Thanks to you all.

Room Tip: Request a front facing room- views are fab.

“Such a rude Manager - don't stay here!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

Rooms were "ok" cobwebs in the windows and very dusty sink pedastal but we could put up with those - it was the rudeness of the Manager that I have never ever experienced having travelled the world extensively! I have never been spoken to that before bearing in mind I was a paying customer!

Upon checkin (3 girl friends staying for 1 night so we could see the sights) 2 of us were advised breakfast was 8.30-10.30. At 10am the 3rd party came back to the room to advise breakfast finished at 10am but we could have Tea & Toast as they had turned off the equipment. Having rushed down (so got there 10.05) the "chef" who turned out to be the Manager too told us breakfast had finished, he didn't even offer Tea & toast (it was a very friendly female member of staff who had offered this).

He was rude, interupted us and told us if he turned the burners back on (which took ages to warm up he said) then he would charge us extra for this! When I challenged him on how he spoke to us he didn't care - I said I'd speak to the Manager and when he said "thats me" he looked really smug - I was so shocked I got quite upset as I was so angry and as I've said, I have travelled the world for many years and never once been spoken to like this!

He did do toast and tea/coffee (which was still out so didn't go to any effort) and after asking the kind lady, we managed to have juice too!

Upon check out he had changed out of his Chef clothes and was as nice as pie when we paid.

For the price we paid (not cheap for 1 night) there are far better looking B&Bs in Pitlochry that are also closer to the main High St and not at the top of a steep bank.

My friend gave feedback to bookings.com who passed onto the Manager - even his reply (which we had passed to us) was aggressive and accusing - how he feels he can run a business talking to people like that I don't know! How people have left reviews saying how wonderful this place is I don't know! Its in great need of updating that is for sure.

If you do stay there, make up your own mind but my view is don't - you can get better!

Thank you for taking the time to write your lengthy review.
I appreciate that you were very upset at missing breakfast which you made very clear at the time with a questionable manner, however I must point out that you were 20 mins late not 5 as stated in your review. We did provide cereal, toast & tea for your party despite the very late arrival. Our breakfast times are displayed in the information folder provided in the bedrooms and outside the dining room as well as at check-in. It is disappointing that you felt your stay was less than perfect due to this incident, however 33 other guests managed breakfast on time on the same morning. It is also disappointing to note that you mock the opinion of others who have taken time to leave more positive reviews, when quite rightly so you have aired your views.

“friendly hotel with a cozy bar but some downsides”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

Friendly staff and owner - particularly helpful with respect to tips for tourist activities. The bar has a cozy atmosphere and perfect for a nightcap. Coffee making in room. Ample free parking. Bedroom windows open wide if desired and one can enjoy the lovely fresh air and quiet surroundings. There is however "room for improvement" in a couple of points: the toilet cistern is very loud and takes ages to complete its "refill"! Also the shower is too weak. Generally the bathroom (although very clean) is in need of upgrading. Pillows are extremely hard and uncomfortable. Room furnishings are "adequate" but "flair" is missing. The breakfast buffet is good for folks who like the full fried version (or any kind of eggs from the extensive warm chioces) but for those who don't like cooked breakfast/eggs then there is no "continental" option (no cheeses/cold meats/breads at the buffet...and only tinned fruit). The wifi didn't work in hotel room but was fine in the lounge (our room perhaps too far at end of corridor).
CONCLUSION:Although VERY friendly I wouldn't have this hotel as preferred option since all in all feels overpriced for really very ordinary rooms with no special flair..
