“Basic hotel but in bad state of repair and poor desription of room rates.”

We were quoted a price by phone which was in turn confirmed by email. I asked for a double room but the manager had quoted me for single occupancy - I had clearly said double. The chap behind the counter was friendly enough but refused to accomodate for their mistake... Trading standards might want to hear about this!

Basic hotel, poor state of repair and more like a hostel than hotel. Didn't stay for breakfast - didn't serve until 830 Sunday morning which is useless for early morning walkers.

Yes I agree , the hotel is basic, though for the great food and hospitality we provide we are confident the hotel is moving in the right direction.
I have been here since mid April and since then the hotel has moved forward in all areas , and forthcoming during our closure period you will be happy to know that alot of work is planned to prove that the Bridge of Tilt should be what you want for comfort , hospitality and great food.
Thank you for your comments.
Kind Regards,
Chris Day

“In desperate need of a refurb!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2011

On arrival we were warmly greeted by the hotel manager who was friendly and outgoing. He checked us in, booked us a table in the restaurant and directed us to our room.

The room was accessed by a flight of winding stairs with a door at the top which proved a little tricky with luggage.

A traditional key opened the room door which was in poor condition.

The room was a good size with a view over the roof tops to the mountains beyond.

There were two power points which in our opinion isn't enough these days...

The window was single glazed and one of the panes had a crack in it. There was a skylight window in the shower room which I thought was going to fail as I shut it due to the rotten wood frame!

The shower cubicle was in poor condition although the electric shower unit looked nearly new.

The loo was functional.

There were two beds in the room, a single and a double, both had sheets and a duvet. the sheet on the double had a couple of rips in it although these were not serious.

There was a built in wardrobe with ample space for hanging but no shelves. It needed a good clean.

The carpets were of poor quality and needed to be replaced but were at least clean in the main.

The whole decor of the room looked very dated and obviously hadn't been touched in some time. The TV was like something from the 70's!

The restaurant is on the ground floor and and although a little dated there was plenty of room and a choice of tables. The food was nice and service was friendly and adequate.

We had a reasonable nights sleep.

Breakfast was... err... interesting with baked beans being the chefs special!
It was ok although served on a small plate. They had run out of decaf anything and the orange juice was that cheap stuff... The toast was fab though with plenty of butter.

Check out was at 10am and we thought this was a little brisk as breakfast was served until 09:30.

On settling up we pointed out to the manager about a couple of the worse points about the room which he certainly took on board and made a note. He remained very friendly and professional despite our grumbles.

Parking was free and convenient.

On the whole, this hotel has a lot of potential but until it has had a refurb, we sadly won't be returning.

“Not very happy!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2011

Had to have the mattress changed as the springs dug into our backs. We reported that we couldn't get hot water in the shower and the deputy manager said there was no problem we just had to pull the cord in the ceiling! My husband who is 5'9" tall could only just reach whilst standing on tiptoe! At 5' 0" I didn't stand a chance of having a shower. The wall light over the bed would not work and was left hanging down. Large OLD cobwebs round the ceiling with thunder flies in them - definitely 2010 circa (or older)!! The chair beside the washbasin was badly water stained and grubby. The whole room was very grubby and shabby. Reported all the above to the manager who understood our reason for complaint and he said he would get it sorted. Still not done when we left, except the cobwebs were missing. The hotel is desperately in need of urgent refurbishment to get people to return. Definitely would not recommend. Certain members of staff were not in the least bothered - many of us felt we were just an inconvenience to them! On a positive note the hotel is in a lovely setting.

We are very aware at The Bridge of Tilt that we need alot of TLC to bring us up to standard, and I am doing my utmost as new manager at the hotel to implement correct standards of procedure to our daily routine. We are getting the basics right and guest feedback tells me that the food is great , the rooms are clean and the level of hospitality is commendable. I have had alot to do since taking over here and can assure you that we are moving in the right direction. I am sorry you had a little trouble with us during your stay, but on the whole I hope you would recognise the hard work being done to get our house in order. The other guests on your tour seemed to enjoy there time with us and were very complimentary towards the service they received. I would hope that you would visit us again and let us show you the level of hospitality we offer , which seems to have passed you by previously. Thank you very much for your comments.
Kind Regards
