“Warm and friendly”

This was a great choice for a four day break in the winter. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom we had was well appointed, spotless and peaceful. The breakfasts are superb with a wide choice and it was significant that the place was pretty full of residents while most of the other hotels and Inns in Pitlochry were dead on their feet. The bar/restaurant area has low wooden beams and a roaring log fire at both ends which is very atmospheric. The food was good and the service prompt. At one point we asked the locals at the bar where the best walks were locally and, without being asked, the barman quietly disappeared for a few minutes and came back with 6 photocopied pages of walks for us out of a book ! Would definitely recommend.

“Love this place”

Been here many times and love the old world charm, both in the decor, cozy log fires, own brewed ales and most of all the attention the staff give to their guests. It is a perfect base to explore the highlands from and in easy walking distance from the picturesque town of Pitlochry. Plenty to see and do and can't wait to come back again. The winter warmer break is perfect for a cheap and quick get-a-way during the most depressing time of the year.

Don't expect super duper all mod cons - just enjoy the ambience of this 315 year old inn.

Room Tip: Room 18 has a lovely view over the old church but is the farthest from reception up quite a few stai...

“School Dinners”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

It's a lovely looking hotel / hostelry / eaterie and I eaten there several times.
However, I popped in the other day for lunch and to be perfectly honest the food my family and myself had was pretty basic at not so basic prices.
A family member opted for the haggis, tatties and neeps and to be honest I have seen better presented food dished up in school dinner halls.

I can only hope that the 'restaurant' bill of fayre is a little more considered which, if it is, I daresay you will pay handsomely for.

Room Tip: N/A. Had lunch only

“Wonderful and romantic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011 via mobile

We had the most relaxing five nights at the Moulin Inn. A truly atmospheric hotel, serving good pub grub and excellent ales from the on-site brewery. On our last night we had a power cut due to the storms but the pub stayed open and we spent the evening by candle and firelight - very romantic.

“Fantastic Cosy Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

The Moulin Hotel is a real gem. It doesn't have the modern trappings seen in so many hotels, no elevators for example, but itsa great little country hotel with a nice restaurant AND great bar food available next door in the 17th century Moulin Inn. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and there was a real happy atmosphere about the place. It was good to have my evening meal in the bar with the log fire burning and the locals drinking after their day's work. I don't think I've ever seen so many dogs in a bar, but they seemed to be as comfortable in the bar as their owners were. The room was very clean and nicely furnished although, again, not using over-modern furniture that would have spoiled the overall ambience. It was the first stop on my trip in The Highlands and a great start it was.
