“overnight autumn stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

This was our 4th stay here and as usual we were not disappointed by the hotel and the bar with roaring fire and interesting selection of food and drink. Sadly the breakfast did not come up to the standard we had experienced before - burnt toast, greasy food and hard eggs!
I left a bag in my room and the staff were very helpful when I phoned up later to report this - and kept it safe until I was able to pick it up on my return trip

“Hogmanay 2008”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Sorry for the lateness of this review but better late than never.

We visited the Moulin Hotel to celebrate a friends 65th birthday and 25th wedding anniversary over New Year 2008 and had a fantastic time. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, cosy and comfortable. Meals were well prepared and presented and there was a good choice for all palates. The Hogmanay meal and entertainment were both absolutely excellent and our English friends were overwhelmed. We were served a cold buffet on New Years Day and the choice was plentiful and extremely tasty. I would recommend this hotel for the accomodation, food and the warm welcoming staff.

“Old World with Modern Trappings”

Had the pleasure of staying at the Moulin for the first time - and it was a pleasure. Comfortable room - with very squeaky floorboards, no chance of being sneaked up on - but clean and smart. Food excellent both at breakfast and evening meal times. Staff very friendly and helpful. Inn attached has real atmosphere with its log fire and home brewed ales. Food there excellent also. Excellent value for money.

“Cosy and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Our room for a three-night stay here was cosy, comfortable and clean. Staff were always friendly and helpful and the room cleaning each morning was exceptional. Breakfasts were cracking and the bar grub was good. The menu for the restaurant looked excellent but there appeared to be no other diners which may have - albeit unfairly - created not much atmosphere. So we stayed with the bar where it's log fires and busy tables provided a great country inn atmosphere. But you have to take pot luck at getting a table in the bar as booking in advance is not allowed. We were lucky and got a table each time we were in the bar where to be honest there's a reasoanbly quick turn over of table spaces. Our room - no 2 - had excellent views of the village and hills beyond. The only slightly annoying thing was we couldn't spot the mice in the Terence Cunio prints adorning the stairs. The price at £62 per room per night was a bargain!

Room Tip: No 2 is small but cosy but has great views. You hear a bit of traffic on the Kirkmichael road but it...
