“Nice Location but Service Left a Lot to be Desired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

The location of this very nice property was fine. A quiet setting away from traffic but convenient to downtown and the sites we came to see. The rooms were comfortable and clean and breakfast was good. The bad news unfortunately was the service. Advice about dinner was confusing. We asked for suggested routing for the next day and the owner didn't seem to know anything about the Angus Glens just a few miles away. Although they take credit cards, the lady didn't seem to know how to work the machine and we still don't know if we paid twice or perhaps not at all.

“Very enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2010

We stayed at Ptarmigan House for 1 knight on our way to Highlands and enjoyed it very much. Very nice and cosy room with old-fashion window style, so there was a lot of light in the room. Our children were very happy to jump on trampoline and run in the country-yard. Rich Scottish breakfast.

Definitely would recommend Ptarmigan House for others.

“Very Good B&B in Superb Highland Touring Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

Stayed two nights at this friendly and informal B&B. We were on a bicycle tour through Scotland and needed somewhere for a day of rest, laundry etc. We landed lucky here. Our bicycles were stored securely in the conservatory; our hosts washed our dirty clothes too ! We could come and go as we pleased.

The room was very large, ensuite and with TV in a sitting-room area as part of the bedroom and was very comfortable. Lovely views across to hills and no traffic noise whatsoever. We lacked nothing. A large garden, ample parking space and good breakfast completed a most enjoyable stay.

The B&B is actually situated in the eastern end of Blair Atholl within easy walking distance of the interesting and beautifully preserved Blair Castle. There are pubs, hotels and a fish&chips/pizza place nearby at which to eat in the evenings. There is also a working water-mill / cafe in the village. We would like to have stayed longer.

“Comfortable, quiet and a great place to rest and relax - RECOMMENDED!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2009

A very pleasant rural location with ample parking. Large clean room with cosy decor and comfortable bed. Free wi-fi internet access and great breakfast served in a very nice bright (and sunny!) dining room. Cheerful and helpful hosts. RECOMMENDED! Thank you.

“No welcome here!”

Arrived here on the appointed afternoon on 10th August around 4 pm to find no answer at the locked front door. Went to the back and to the adjacent cottage but no one in. Tried the neighbours to see if they knew where the owners might be but no one at home. Not too sorry at the time as the whole place looks very run down, no tables set in dining room etc. so gave up and went somewhere else. But as we'd booked on the web we've got landed with a 'no show' charge! It's described as a hotel but it's a guest house.
