“Great location, lovely room”

Last minute weekend break at this hotel and what a great weekend it was. Fabulous view from room of river & bridge. Huge bed. Its a very traditional hotel, very relaxing and homely. Breakfast is in the conservatory overlooking the river. Its also in the perfect location for Perth - right in the centre, near to the parks and galleries (the main Perth museum and art gallery is yards away). Parking is pot luck - there are 19 spaces on a first come first served basis which isn't ideal, but then many city centre hotels don't have any parking at all. We will certainly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the river!

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on The Royal George. We are indeed lucky to be located in the centre of the city, yet have the views across the River Tay! I am delighted you commented on the huge bed! We are currently upgrading several rooms and where possible we are putting super kings into these rooms, as we know that "sleep quality" rates very highly with our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future.

“old fashioned.”

Parking at hotel is very limited so be aware if there is no space in car park it will cost you dearly to park on street. The hotel is very scottish ,lots of tartan and plennty of whiskeys to choose from . Our mini suite was clean and comfortable, unfortunetly the view was a couple of walls ! We had requested a bottle of wine on arrival (as a birthday surprise) but we didn,t recieve it so had to request it again after phoning reception. Hotel rooms were quiet and comfortable.Breakfast was served in the conservatory, there was plenty seating and staff were pleasant,Choice was limited to continental or scottish, food was not great ,we found cooked breakfast to be very greasy not the standard you would expect from a hotel,Overall a pleasing stay ,very central and great shopping nearby.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view.

“Wonderful Hotel. Can't wait to return.”

I was more than pleasantly surprised on our arrival at this hotel. It is a beautiful hotel with a fantastic view of the Tay from the conservatory restaurant. The food was great, the room was absolutely lovely. Very clean, modern with a hint of Scotland. We stayed here for 2 nights and I have to say that the staff were absolutely brilliant. We were made very welcome from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. There was a wedding on at the time we stayed so the hotel was buzzing but in no way did this detract from the service of the other guests.I would like to say a very special thank you to Annie on reception who was so very helpful with any questions/traumas we had and a special thankyou to Gary who was brilliant when we couldn't get our car out of the car park due to someone blocking us in. He appeared with keys from the offending car and moved it for us therefore allowing us to have a wonderful day in St Andrews!!

“Good value in Perth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

Stayed here for business - can't fault cleanliness (spotless modern bathrooms), breakfast was good, location is excellent in middle of town.

From a business perspective, the only let down is lack if internet access in rooms - this was known before booking so is not a gripe!

Overall a good value option for the area.

Thank you for your very positive comments on your stay at The Royal George, especially your comments on the cleanliness, your breakfast and the location of the hotel. Thank you also for your constructive comments on wifi internet access. Whilst it is currently free to guests throughout all public areas of the building, we are looking into extending access throughout the entire building, but as you can imagine, a listed building of this age can pose some problems with cabling, without disruping existing walls and ceilings, but we are on the case!
