“A wee jewel in the centre of Perth”

My husband and I recently had a lovely weekend at the Mercure Hotel in Perth. All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and courteous which made us feel welcome. Our room was very nice and clean with everything needed for a comfortable stay and a nice outlook to the front of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cold and cooked items. Your toast and tea is brought to your table which is great as I hate having to make my own! The hotel is very well situated in the centre of Perth and only a short walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants of which there are many. This is the first review I have posted on Tripadvisor but felt compelled to do so having had such a nice experience. We will definitely be back.

“Ready for a refurb”

Stayed one night. Check in very efficient. The hotel isn't bad, but it really is overdue some refurbishment. Bar and restaurant area is dated and the room was very basic for the price paid. Not somewhere I'd rush back to with any enthusiasm.

“Nice enough”

Stayed here over the new year when visiting friends and family. A missed opportunity for this hotel as excellently situated in the centre of this beautiful city. Positioned over an historic part of the city on a former mill site and has several glass viewing platforms to see the water running underneath the hotel building. The new owners should do much more with this. Seems to lack the warmth of a Scottish atmosphere and and no continuity of staff although pleasant, seemed uninterested. Room adequate and clean but in need of some TLC. Parking easy with an overspill if needed. Did not eat there as menu uninspiring and breakfast was not included. Was cheaper and varied to eat out locally. A nice cafe a short distance away with many other restaurants within easy walking distance to choose from in and around the city. Not sure if I would stay there again. Would just be for the location or if the new owners made a difference.

“Absolutely fine”

I stayed here one Monday evening on business in November. I can’t make comment on the food as I ate out.

It's nothing special, but clean and well located in the middle of Perth with a free car park.

The rooms are actually better than you think they're going to be given the age and style of the place. Although the bathrooms are ancient and gloomy.

The hotel has recently been take over by the Mercure group, so I would expect it to get better in the next few years.

Breakfast was a buffet, but OK, the better buffet style I had for a while.

There is nothing particularly endearing about the place, but it’s location, availability and price would all make me stay again on business; it’s not the type of place I’d use for pleasure.

Let me start by expressing a small concern relating the overall score on show by the trip advisor website.

Your feedback and score is as shown below:

4 stars out of 5 on 5 out of the 6 sections and
3 stars out of 5 on 1 out of the 6 sections.

When you look at this rating is a relatively positive feedback however the overall score the website is showing your rating as 3 stars out of 5 which I am not sure how trip advisor worked this out!

Anyway, although I have not replied to you at the time of making your comments via the trip advisor website I feel it is only right to give you my views and comments. I would like to thank you for the positive comments of the hotel and I have distributed your views to the team of the hotel.

We all very much appreciate your comments and feedback and if you are planning to return to Perth please contact me personally as I would welcome the opportunity to thank you in person for taking the time to give us your views.

Finally, as a senior contributor of the website I take your view and feedback more serious that the one off comment so I would personally like to thank you for taking the time and to rate the hotel.

Looking forward to welcoming you back to Scotland and the Mercure Perth.
