“Ideal location for touring Trossachs and Loch Lomond”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

Hotel was very welcoming with very clean comfortable rooms. Bathrooms very clean. Staff extremely helpful. Only small moan was breakfast was not full traditional breakfast but as there was no extra charge not to big a moan (no bacon, hash browns, mushrooms, or fried egg option). Comfort of the rooms and beds far outweighed this and Tesco Extra just down the road was good for breakfast.

We will return to this hotel next time in Scotland

“Perfectly adequate for an overnight stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2010

We needed somewhere to stay for a night in this area after spending Christmas with family and this hotel fitted the bill just fine. It was easy to find, the reception staff were polite, the room was not very expensive and was clean and tidy, and the beds were reasonably comfortable. There was no bath but the shower was roomy with plenty of hot water.
The breakfast was totally self service and was adequate, although I would like to have seen more fruit on offer.
TO summarise, fine when you are just looking for somewhere to sleep for one night.

“Decent enough for a Short Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

Was on my way up to the Highlands so used this hotel as a stop over before getting on the ferry the next day.

The Room:
The room was as you would expect from a Holiday Inn Express, nothing fancy, just adequate. When we got our room key we got to the room and the card reader on the door wasn't working so had to go back to reception - this took three attempts before the manager gave up and moved us to another room. The room we were moved to was a disabled room although we were informed it hadn't passed the tests so wasn't actually able to be used as a disabled room. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows but there was no airconditioning and this made for a hot night - not in the good way either!

The Hotel:
The staff were very friendly and helpful, when the card reader didn't work they were very apologetic and were trying everything to fix it. Parking was ample and never had a problem finding somewhere to park the car. Was a good distance from the ferry so that made it convenient. The hotel was easy to find right next to a very large T-Mobile building.

Decent hotel, good location as a stop over, nice staff...does exactly what it says on the tin!

“Excellent value, service, location - couldn't ask for better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

Like a lot of Holiday Inn Express hotels, this one is ideally located just on the outskirts of the town centre, not far from our business rendezvous, the shops and restaurants. Beautifully clean, room had everything we needed, staff courteous and friendly, buffet breakfast next morning was more than adequate. Rooms were bigger than the one we stayed in the next night in Glasgow City Centre and cost £62 vs £140 in the city!! Room and bathroom were beautifully clean, couldn't fault them in any way. All in all, great value for money and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this HiEx.

“Good for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

This hotel is very good for the money. We stayed here for a week to visit family and friends in the area. This wasn't the first time we went, we returned due to location, and again, the value for the cost. The service is quite friendly and had no problems at the front desk. The beds are generally comfy and I was able to sleep straight through for all but one of the nights. The bathroom is a comfortable size and there were no issues with the shower, as you might expect with hotels as cheap as this one. The breakfast was great for the cost. They have a choice of 4 cereals, fruit, hot coffee, at least 4 juices, yogurts, beans, choice of 2 breads for toast, sausages, eggs, croissants, etc. So, you can really get full from this! My only problems with this was the time, it ended at 10, so it was hard to sleep in in the mornings. Another one of the cons was that we were directly next to a smoking room, so every morning I was awoken by the strong (and disgusting) smell of cigarettes. Gross!! Also, every morning the hallways were full of dirty towels and bedding and such. The rest of my family called me a snob for being bothered by these things, seeing as the hotel was so cheap, but it's a little annoying to have to navigate around this on the way to the elevator. All in all, if one needs to stay in Greenock for any reason, this is a good place to stay.
