We couldn't believe our luck when we managed to book this beautiful hotel for £45 and when we noticed this included a full "Scottish Breakfast" (not your usual croissant, fruit and make your own toast scenario offered in many hotels) we did think there had been a big mistake and kept waiting for a tap on the shoulder by the manager. The breakfast was so good and staff so attentive we probably would have paid extra.
We stayed in the more modern but sympathetically designed wing of this mansion and again the rooms were well designed, spacious and nice and warm which was well received as it was snowing heavily when we arrived. Our room also a featured a spotless bathroom with a big bath and a shower so powerful and invigorating it could have knocked the skin of a rice pudding.
We decided not to dine in "Chaplins" restaurant but did have a bar meal sitting on a comfy sofa in front of a very cozy and relaxing log burner. Bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and showed just how much well trained staff can turn a nice stay into a memorable one.
