“Nairn's Very Own Faulty Towers!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Struggling to think of any positves for our stay in the Windsor this weekend, stayed in the hotel from Saturday 4th Feb 2012 to Monday 6th Feb.... we have family in Nairn and up to visit for the weekend, (3 Couples staying, so booked 3 double rooms) safe to say I will never stay there again, would defo pay more money to stay in the Golf view!!

Here are all the problems that we had whilst staying:
* Only seemed to be one staff member on when arriving and he was doing all duties - waited 20min for service in the Bar
* Bedroom door cards dont work and wont allow access, everyone had to get maids keys to enter rooms.
* allocated rooms 101, 105 and 207 - 2 out of the 3 rooms had no heating.
* Room 207 had no hot water and Jacuzzi didnt work - requested to move rooms and was put in room that smelt of sewage.
*Room 105 - no hot water for a shower!!
*Room 101 - bathroom was tiny!! no heating we asked to move rooms, again put in a room with no heating, but they did plug in an electric heater.
*Room 206 - Shower was pathetic, no power at all, Unable to even run water for a bath, Bath was also yellow and wouldnt want to sit in it - Reported to Reception and werent much help -advised handy man would look but 30min later took steps into our own hands.
* found a random key in my room for room 205 - room was freezing cold but shower was better so had to resort to taking a shower in this room and then go back to own room to gert dressed. the 2nd day i had to leave the hotel and go to a family members home to get washed!!
* None of the telly's worked in all 6 rooms we visited - constant frozen screen!
* No one to speak to in regard to management until after 3pm - if you were staying for only 1 night there would be no way of making any sort of complaint. when I did speak with the so called managment the poor boy didnt have a clue of how to deal with the situation, apart from offering to allow me to move for a 3rd time!!!
* Dinner service wasnt much better - bar staff seemed uninterested and over worked, felt like it was a group of children trying to run a business, there was no control over the place, at one point was advised to have the buffet meal it would be a 45min wait, but then spoke to manager and he got us seated straight away! There were silly things like the staff complaining about working there, staff not suitably dressed to be working in a hotel, beer warm... etc

For all the issues we had - I was offered £20 off my bill, which i think is an absolute joke!!

Honestly, I never complain about things but this was too much, at points i felt like i was taking part of one of those hotel documentaries it was such a joke!! - dont book to stay here ....look elsewhere!!!

Room Tip: look somewhere else!!!

“70th birthday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I held my 70th birthday party in the Windsor Nairn on the 1st October 2011 and had a fantastic night. Although the venue was a wee bit tight to hold 130 people, the staff managed to seat the most of them and while a few had to stand around the bar it did not take away the enjoyment of the night. The buffet was good although some people did not get a lot of food but maybe that was because all the food was put out at once.; it usually works better if you hold some of the savories and meats back until later in the meal. Apart from that the evening was a resounding success and some of my guests said it was one of the best parties they had been at.. .I would have said there was a shortage of staff as there was a carvery going on as well but the ones who were available were efficient and helpful in the time they had to try and seat everybody etc. If you are booking a band as well as the disco remember the stage is not very big so check your numbers. I would say a good venue for 80 to 100 people as this would be a comfortable amount..Thanks again to all the staff and management of the Windsor as it was the best night of my life apart from my wedding!

“Keenly priced hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The Windsor is a nice, keenly priced hotel. The room we were allocated for our one night stay was the Cawdor suite, and the size of the room and the bed was certainly impressive. Large ensuite with jacuzzi bath and separate shower. Staff were young and friendly, but were simply not up to the job of serving breakfast.
No juice in the jugs, no glasses, coffee with no toast - even though i'd asked for toast.
If they can get resposible staff, then it may be worth using....

“Don't believe all the awful reviews - try for yourself”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

We have just returned tonight from spending 2 nights at this hotel. I went with my husband and 9 year old daughter.
We read the reviews AFTER booking and were begining to dread our visit, we thought we were going to Fawlty Towers, however, when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised.
I am a bit of a clean freak, and was dreading a filthy room or bathroom etc, I am also NOT afraid to complain when I feel I am not getting the service I expect.
We stayed in room 212 and I honestly could not find a fault.
The room was very spacious, with a double bed, a single bed, a 3 seater sofa, 2 tub chairs, a wardrobe and a dressing table, a tv, a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities and a welcome tray.
The beds had crisp, clean white bedding, the bathroom was sparkling white.
The room was warm and it also had 2 radiators, that I turned up later at night when it started to get cold.
When we arrived we went downstairs to have a meal in the restaurant at 8.45pm. I had a fantastic sirloin steak, my husband had a whopper of a 100% beef burger and my daughter had fish. The next morning we went for breakfast and it was average, the only fault I had was that we had no toast or bread with this, then when we returned that night we had a meal in the restaurant again. I had the beef stir fry, my husband had a fillet steak and my daughter had the carvery....again we thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
The shower in our room was a tad tricky until we realised how it worked, and the water was warm enough to shower, but not roasting. The staff were young, but all were very pleasant and again, couldn't fault them for anything.
When I return to Nairn I would certainly stay here again and I would recommend this hotel.
I understand everyone has different views on whats acceptable and what level of service they believe they deserve, but I can honestly say we were not disappointed by this hotel at all and the staff were very helpful.
I would recommend people to visit this hotel and then submit their own reviews.

Room Tip: Room 212 was really big and spacious, also the windows face out to the back of the hotel and theres...

“One for the Hotel Inspector!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I can honestly say the bad reviews on here are spot on. I wish my company had read these reviews before they booked me in for a number of nights. The young staff do their very best. At times I thought the hotel only had one member of staff as that person manned the reception, served at the bar and then served me in the dining room. That person probably cleaned the rooms too!
The furniture in the rooms is mismatched. Drawers are falling apart. Carpets dirty and half dead yucca plants on the stairs. The beds are knackered and no mattress protectors on the beds.
The water pressure on the third floor is so low that a hot shower is impossible.
The rooms are cheap at £39 a night for a reason. A one night stay here is enough!
Long overdue a refresh!
The hotel needs to take down any reference to Best western and stop using Best Western images.

Room Tip: I too would say choose another hotel!
