One Tripadvisor comment is headlined 'great but quirky' and this is spot on. Wonderful location, good quality food, extremely friendly service. Somehow you seem to be in a bit of a time warp.
We stayed the 3 nights leading to New Year. Weather was foul, trees blown down in the car park, rain, sun and snow.
We stayed in the Osprey Suite: the bedroom is very large. There is a wonderful kitche, but bizarrely you cannot use it (I guess they didn't get planning permission) but there's not even a couple of plates and cutlery (although the restaurant happily provided these when we asked). The suite is the whole top floor of the separate building, but you reach it by stairs with a little garden gate with a curtain at the top. There is a full length balcony with truly wonderful views of the loch. 4-poster bed was a little too soft. Each day the pillows were rolled and placed on the bed - seemed a nice touch until you realise there are no hooks (for towels or coats etc) and this slight lack of attention to detail was repeated throughout the room. I think if the manager sent a night in the room a lot of these would be put right.
One day the room wasn't serviced, but they did it during our evening meal.
There were a few errors in the restaurant too (asked for a vegetarian recommendation, told Lazarus, then when it arrived it was the meat version) however they were dealt with in such a disarming and charming way that you could not be upset. The quality of food was very good for a DB&B deal.
As mentioned in almost every review, Violetta is an incredible asset. She has a more scottish accent than all the Scots and her enthusiasm is infectious. She is also very good at her job.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay - highly recommended
