Short but sweet stay for 2 nights.
Easy to find and very pleasantly surprised at how big the lodge was. There was just the 2 of us this time but you certainly wouldn't be tripping over each other if there was more in your party.
Pretty much all your needs are catered for, very clean and well maintained. warm, spacious,lots of seating great kitchen with more than adequate equipment. All bedrooms are a good size with lots of storage and our bed was very comfy. Slept like a log.
Great main bathroom (just need to remember to bring my slippers next time for the very nice but rather cold slate floor lol)
As others have already said there is a wee hut close to the lodges with loads of information and brochures, DVD s , books and games to borrow.
John was great sorting a last minute let for us and the place is a credit to him.
Looking forward to coming back later in the year for a longer stay

Our second visit, the lodges had been improved even further. Clean, well equipped, warm, peaceful, and Pine Martins visible outside the kitchen window. Super Telly and sound system, range of DVDs to watch, total chill out.

We took our two dogs, and, despite what has been said below, the dog rules are exactly what we would expect to protect the lodges, and and the dogs. Lots of walks from the front door through the woods.

John is very helpful, contactable very easily if necessary, but otherwise leaves you to enjoy your holiday. Thanks very much, we will be back.

Just returned from a 2 night break at Birchbrae and wishing we were still there!

The lodge was wonderful, lovely decoration inside, everything you need while away, a real home from home. The location is peaceful, perfect for a quiet break away from it all.

It is not always easy to find self-catering accommodation that has wheelchair access and allows dogs but Birchbrae ticked all our boxes and it is definitely on our list of places to return to.

John was very helpful when before our arrival I was texting him to ask about the weather, the road conditions etc.

Just returned from a short stay and had an amazing time. Lodges are an excellent size for the 6 of us. The lodges are very well furnished and very comfortable.

The location is beautiful and quite easy to locate.

There is a communal lodge stocked with DVDs and board games which provides some alternative entertainment for those lazy days.

Would be my top choice for a return to the area.
