“Home away from Home - Glenshian Guest House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

This is a very long overdue thank you for your many kindnesses to us during our stay with you in July, prior to our cruise on the "Fingal". From being met by Glenys on arrival at the station in pouring rain!, to being driven by Iain on departure around to board "Flingal", and in between taxi-ing by Iain to Fort William for our trip on the steam train to Malaig. With our bedroom with beautiful views out over the Canal to the mountains, the superb breakfasts in the conservatory overlooking the garden and the canal, offers of cups of tea and coffee whenever we returned from an outing, and the comfortable guest facilities we really felt as if were visiting family. Our stay with you was one of the highlights of our tour of Scotland.

Room Tip: Room facing the canal the best..

“This B&B must have the best view in the country”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

One of the highlights of walking the great Glen way was stopping at this B&B
Warm and friendly and helpful everything you will ever need in a good B&B
Wonderful breakfast looking out over Ben Nevis
Short walk down to The mooring hotel where we had a good evening meal and reasonably priced with a 10% off voucher from Glenshian Guesthouse.
PS I would give this B&B six stars if possible.

Thank you for writing your review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Hope you didn't get too wet walking into Fort William to complete the Great Glen Way and that you enjoyed your trip home on the sleeper. A great way to celebrate your 40th wedding anniversary. The view from the conservatory is now more spectacular with the autumn colours. We have also had a sprinkling of snow too. Hope to see you again when you start Munro bagging. Regards Glenys and Iain

“Kayaking from Glenshian Guest House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

I stayed for one night in early September, before setting off the next day to kayak the Caledonian Canal towards Inverness. I say ‘towards’ because Hurricane Katia stopped me in my tracks unfortunately, somewhere on Lock Ness, and forced me to return from Fort Augustus. Glenys and Iain and their immaculate Glenshian Guesthouse provided me with the best start for my trip that I could have wished for (including a wonderful breakfast that sustained me for the whole first day of paddling!) Their local knowledge and helpful advice was also very much appreciated. Anyone could book to stay here without any uncertainties about what to expect – it was a fortunate pleasure to have done so.

Hi, Thank for taking the trouble to write your review. It is most welcome. We do try to help not just kayakers, but walkers and cyclists make the most of their adventure on the Great Glen Ways. Located where we are is very convenient for all these activities. We are also glad that the breakfast sustained you on the first day of paddling. Living off of dried food is not quite the same!! As you had to curtail your journey because of the weather perhaps we will see you again. This time completing your expedition. Regards Glenys and Iain

“Glenshian Guesthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

We spent two nights at Glenshian. The hosts Glenys and Iain were wonderful. They were most friendly and helpful in offering ideas for places to visit and the history of the area. When they found out we were both railfans, Iain even gave me a tour of the local railyard and a schedule of special railtrips while we were in the area,
The guest house itself was immaculate and the rooms very comfortable. The backyard is a well maintained garden with many ducks and wild birds each morning. The view from the breakfast porch is incredible. The Caledonian Canal is literally at their back gate with several boats moored in the canal at any time. Beyond the canal is Ben Nevis. The breakfasts are delicious with a variety of options and always fresh fruit avaiiable.
Our overall experience here was very positive and we intend to stay again when we revisit the area.

Hi to you both, Hope the journey home wasn't too arduous. Thank you for writing your review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and will be returning. It is our pleasure to help you enjoy your stay. Next time you should come on the days the Jacobite is running!!! Iain will most certainly take you around the rail yard again. The garden has taken a bit of a battering with the weather we have had recently. Many ducks are coming for their breakfast now - the word has spread. Take care. Regards Glenys and Iain

“Splendid B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We stayed at the Glenshian Guesthouse at the beginning of August.
To start with we didn't have any difficulty in booking just for one night (which it is not easy in high season).
This B&B is set in a very quite environment just outside Fort William, with free parking space.
The rooms are very nice, extremely clean with confortable beds and spatious bathroom.
The owners, Glenys and Iain, were very kind and helpful.
The excellent breakfast served in the dining room looking over Ben Nevis. Just outside the rear garden (very nice!) you have the peaceful Caledonian Canal where you can have very pleasant walks.
Highly recommended!
