“Formal and pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Owners are delightful and keep their lovely home in first class condition. The ensuite was tiny but one becomes accustomed to that in the old B&B homes. Lawriestone is a beautiful stone house and our front room well appointed. Overlooking Lochaber and Yacht club offer a grand view. Breakfast is formal and strictly set time. Spotlessly clean, formal and above average price.
Location in Fort William is good, easy to locate, many restaurants close by, Great seafood, Short drive to Corpach where on a clear day a view to Ben Nevis is possible. Parking can be a problem in busy Fort William and they book your car if you over run the time on the meters.

Room Tip: Front room first floor.

“Room might not be what you expect”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

The website for the guesthouse was wonderful. We booked and when we arrived, we were taken to a room in the attic!!! Oh my word, carrying the suitcases up 2 flights of stairs was not my idea of fun. The room was small, felt crowded and only had a skylight for a window. Not what I expected from the website. Our hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. A different room would have offered a better view of the loch. A bit of a disappointment....

Room Tip: Make sure you are hiking up to the attic to get to bed...

“Disappointing B&B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

Sad to say this was not our best B&B we stayed in, even though it was the most expensive out of six. The owner was rather stuck-up and set in his ways. Upon showing us the room, we placed a bag on the bed (after walking up Ben Nevis), which he clearly didn't approve of as he instantly placed it on the floor, he obviously thought that it and we were rather dirty and was scared to have us stay. Breakfast is regimented that you have to be down at 8.30, else you get a telling off. The Breakfast was OK, but not nearly as good as we'd have hoped or expected.

“Lovely old house great view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011 via mobile

We had a lovely view from our room and we made the most of it as it was so cold and windy when we were in Fort William. the bathroom was very pokey but everything else was good. The hostess was friendly and interested in us and our travels at breakfast which was a nice touch.
A bit out of town, would be a nice walk on a nice day.

“A real gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2011

Situated approx 5 minutes walk from the centre of Fort William this Guest House is a real gem. A beautiful Victorian building overlooking a loch on the approach to Fort William. We were met by the owner, Jim who promptly showed us to our rooms and made sure we were happy with everything. The rooms were spacious and spotless, decorated in the character of the house, very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. One of the rooms had a particularly panoramic view over the loch and although the second room was to the side of the building we still had a view. An excellent breakfast the next morning and Susan took time to chat with each of the guests and ask what they were doing that day, making some very helpful recommendations along the way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation recommending Lawriestone to our family and friends, and hope to visit again some day.
