I stayed at Calluna for a weekend winter climbing and walking trip. It was a bit of a last minute thing and I managed to get a bed in the Alpine Loft bunkhouse for two nights. I wasn't looking for the Ritz, just somewhere clean, reasonably priced and with half decent facilities. Calluna ticked all these boxes and more. My main concern was having somewhere secure to leave my kit during the day while I was out. This wasn't a problem as the room is lockable and you'll most likely be sharing with a few other friendly climber/walker types anyway (although do remember everyone will probably be getting up at the crack of dawn to get out on the hill, particularly in the winter!) There's a clean kitchen with everything you need and an excellent shower. The loft upstairs where you sleep is really dinky but nice and clean. There's a proper drying room and for climbers, well there's a bouldering wall downstairs if you need your fix. It is a wee hike up the hill from town but you won't mind it too much after a couple of pints in the Grog & Gruel.
