Had a lovely break at this hotel. View of the loch from the bedroom window, very happy with the price. The hotel staff were lovely, the hotel was fully booked at the time we stayed and nothing was too much trouble.

The hotel is stuck in the 70s. I mean PINK towels?! Come on! The sheets were also pink - lurid pink! - and felt worn. The room we had was tiny and had no view. The food was mediocre at best and the breakfast was incomplete as they had run out of gas!!!! It does have a loch view if you can get a room facing that way but the location is otherwise undistinguished. I will say it was clean and the bathroom had recently been refurbed. If I were refurbing the hotel, though, I would do something about the banging doors. However carefully you closed them they banged! And people were not always careful... from about 6 am on.

Staff are very friendly and helpful, room was spotless, as were all the public areas. Rooms are fairly basic but provide everything needed.

Just a couple of niggles which stopped it from being Excellent. At dinner they only serve in the bar and you have to go and get the menus from the bar and order all food at the bar. We were there on a busy night and at times it was a bit of a scrum around the bar area as people tried to order food and others tried to order drink. There seemed to be a lot of waitresses standing beside the bar, presumably waiting to take food out from the kitchen and clear plates, but i think there was enough of them to be able to take orders from tables and avoid the bar getting too busy. However, our plates were quickly cleared and served, so no problems but i just think on busy weekend nights, this may be a better way of running things. They also have a huge restaurant which is only used for breakfast, and i can't understand why it isn't used at night, as it is a lovely big room. The food itself is pretty good, nothing special but adequate.

Bed was very creaky in the room which was a bit irritating.

Overall very good value and perfect for a short stay.

My husband and I have stayed at the West End three or four times, and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when visiting Fort William. The staff are always very helpful and attentive, rooms are great and the ones overlooking the Loch, as you can imagine, have spectacular views! It's near the centre of town, but far enough away to be nice and quiet at night. Dining room and bar staff are always very attentive and friendly, and sitting at a window table in the bar with a wee drink watching the sunset over the Loch....well, what more can I say, brilliant! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will always stay there when in Fort Willian.
