My husband and I have stayed at the West End three or four times, and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when visiting Fort William. The staff are always very helpful and attentive, rooms are great and the ones overlooking the Loch, as you can imagine, have spectacular views! It's near the centre of town, but far enough away to be nice and quiet at night. Dining room and bar staff are always very attentive and friendly, and sitting at a window table in the bar with a wee drink watching the sunset over the Loch....well, what more can I say, brilliant! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and we will always stay there when in Fort Willian.

Stayed with friends during August 2011. To begin on a positive note the one strength of this hotel is the staff who are numerous, friendly and provide a really efficient service. The sad thing is that they have to work in an environment which has obviously not had any significant investment for years.
Away from the public areas of the hotel, a really stale aroma pervades the building especially the upstairs corridors and the room I was allocated, which seemed to smell of cigarette smoke which is probably engrained in the carpet and curtains. My towels were small and washed out as was the bed linen. The shower dribbled, the washbasin was cracked and the TV did not work on BBC1. I paid £80 a night for single use of the smallest double room I have ever stayed in.
Breakfast was good with lots of staff on hand but I could not help thinking that if they moved to self service, some of the staff savings could be reinvested in the rooms. The hotel bar seemed to be well frequented and the food was ok , ok that is if you like bar snacks of the boil in the bag variety

This hotel is in a great location,right on the end of the main street main street of Fort William,and a great location for our walk up Ben Nevis, a bit worn and tired,but it does have a certain charm.Our room over looked Loch Linnie. Nothing really to complain about apart from the fan in the bathroom was noisy,.The thing I liked about this place is that it had a customer self laundry.We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it,as the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our four day stay.Set breakfast every morning (Five options} Food at night was reasonable priced and of a varied choice,it was always hot, and served quickly with no long waits! Just try it!

we stayed here on a trip with Saltburn railtours Scott who booked us in was very welcoming All the staff were very friendly and helpful The hotel perhaps may need some updating but that did not matter to us The staff in the restaurant were very good and the food was excellent We spent most nights in the bar and enjoyed the Friday night entertainment We have been on trips with Saltburn Railtours before and this is our best hotel experience it was a shame the weather was not better The position of the hotel is great such a lovely view
