The Alexandra Hotel has a great location in the centre of town across the road from the train station and in walking distance of Fort William's main street. We rode the Jacobite Steam Train when we were there and the location of the hotel couldn't have been more convenient. The staff didn't seem to be that welcoming and our room was on the third floor ...... the one lift couldn't cope with everyone wanting to use it because one person with a suitcase filled it. The room was okay but one of the drawers were broken and the place really looked as if it need refurbished. The breakfast was a buffet and the hot food seemed to be swimming in fat as it lay on display. The cold selection of cereals etc was okay which made up a bit for the poor hot buffet. The waiting staff seemed to be very busy but we waited ages for our toast and coffee to be served. The public rooms were a bit tired and the atmosphere was anything but inspiring. The Alexandra is okay and its functional for those who have to stay in the town of Fort William, but I don't think we'll be going back
