the website photos do not do the public rooms justice. they have beautiful original features. the B&B is very warm and cosy with beautiful views over the River Ness. it is within easy walking distance of the town. the B&B has parking but the gate is closed at 9pm. parking on the street is by meter but free between 4pm and 10am.
the owner was very friendly, bubbly and informative.
the room had a great view of River Ness. the bed was squeeky with two very flat hard pillows. the room had two small chaiirs, kettle, tea, coffee, hot choc, shortbread and fresh milk. there was also a small quiet fridge which the milk was kept in.
the breakfast was good but for the main course it was either a full Highland or boiled, poached and scrambled eggs. I would have liked something else other than eggs eg pancakes or even French toast (I know it's still eggs but a wee bit different!).
the ensuite was very small. the sink was too big and the shower cubicle was very small with lots of discoloured grout and mildew. there was only a Scottish soap supplied no other toileteries. the soap did not smell very nice.
the Alexander was clean, warm and inviting. the only negatives was the small ensuite with the mildew and the pillows. a great priced B&B.

All parking information is clearly displayed on the terms and conditions page of our website and it really should not come as any surprise to any guest when they get here. Many of our guests appreciate that we have secure parking. The gate is closed by 9pm as at this time most of our guests are out and the guest house is closed for check-ins. As stated there is free parking at the front, outside the hours of 10am to 4pm. I am not sure that I follow the nature of the guest's issue on this point.
Likewise all the facilities in each room are clearly displayed on our website. For a full list of them, guests can visit the home page of the website.
We are in the process of regrouting and resealing all shower cubicles and this will be done by the end of September. We renew pillows at very regular intervals and could have offered the guest some other pillows if there were problems with the original set.
The breakfast menu is also listed on our website. The scrambled eggs, come with Smoked Salmon (this is not mentioned). The eggs are local organic free range eggs. The smoked salmon is from Portsoy. This is a very popular alternative to a full breakfast. We are one of only a few Guest Houses to have an AA Breakfast Award and we work hard to maintain the quality of our breakfast.
Our soap is organic and comes from the Strathpeffer Spa Soap Company. It is scented with chamomile and we use it ourselves. This was obviously not to the guests taste.
As a final point, I note that we were given 5/5 for value, 3/5 for sleep quality, 4/5 for cleanliness and 5/5 for service - yet our overall mark is 3/5
