Our decision to stay at the Ho ho Hostel was last minute and not planned - I really wish we had planned ahead and stayed elsewhere!

The room was tiny, with barely enough room to squeeze down the side of the bed. That's not really a problem, but the bed itself was almost collapsing and made horrible noises whenever you moved even slightly. The mattress was really horrible and thin and incredibly lumpy. Finally, one corner of the mattress (i.e. one quarter of the mattress) was not supported by any slats!! I felt lucky that I didn't fall through in the middle of the night. (See photo).

Additionally, the bathroom was not very clean and didn't seem to be regularly maintained. There was no toilet paper in the toilets and there were cigarette butts in the toilets (despite it apparently being a no smoking hostel, there were never any staff around to check).

After a terrible night's sleep we were very glad to leave and will never go back. The whole place was really unprofessionally run and very badly equipped which is a shame because the location is quite good.

Myself and 2 friends booked 3 beds in a mixed dorm here. The room was dirty and smelly but we just dumped our bags and went out. We returned after the reception had closed only to find we had been given the wrong code for the outside door. We had to stand outside for ages until someone in one of the rooms heard us shouting up.

When we got into our room, we found that they had overbooked (apparantly quite a common complaint at Ho Ho Hostel) and there was only 2 available beds.

Trying to get some money back the next day was a struggle - the manager eventually reluctantly gave us the cost of one bed back. As for getting an apology - it never came! There are much nicer hostels in Inverness that cost less so... don't stay here!!!

I had a great time at the Ho Ho Hostel. The people working there were all friendly, and so were the people staying there. Very welcoming.
Nice location too.
