Have just come away from spending a week at Atholdene. quite simply put, it is the finest B&B i have ever visited. The rooms are spotlessly clean, well kept and extremely comfortable. The service is unsurpassable, Fred and Penelope are extremely caring and attentive hosts who just go out of thier way to make you feel not just welcome but really valued too. oh thats a good point, breakfast........ RAWR NOM NOM NOMMMMMM, its plain fantastic. a variety of fresh juices, cereal, and "breakfast" fruits including bowel lacerating prunes. Also on the menu is the apparrently famous full scottish, for the lighter side there's scrambled or poached eggs and so on. If thats not quite to your particular tastes i was reliably informed by the lady of the house that kippers and other things of that nature were available upon request.
In this modern era of the Jobsworth, inflexible, rigid and indifferent attitude, tripping over a place like Atholdene House really is a revelation and i would not ever hesitate in reccommending this beautiful guest house to anyone and everyone planning to visit Inverness in particular or the highlands as a whole.
Now comes the critisism.................
Fred, that vase, you know, the brass one in the breakfast room, right hand side of the fire? No. just no ok! it looks like a WWII german bomb and has all the appeal and cultural impact of said device!
cocking a wink at Penelope.........................
levity aside, to sum it all up, amazing owners, fantastic guest house. If you dont visit, its your loss!
