“Classy Hotel in Classy City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Glen Mohr recently on a trip to Inverness; what a location, very close to the centre of this compact, yet delightful city. The location is right on the banks of the River Ness, the hotel is a main building, with adjacent properties which now all form a series of adjoining buildings along the river bank. All of the buildings are elegant stone properties and make a very attractive hotel. There is a large free car park with controlled access.

We arrived early and were given a warm welcome and shown to our riverside view room, which was very large and had an equally large and accommodating bath and shower room. The room was well equipped with a king-size bed, quality flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities, and a view to die for.

There is an in-house Bistro type restaurant, which looked very nice and had a wide and varied menu, but we chose to amble in to the city centre of Inverness and we dined at one of the many good quality restaurants nearby.

We were on Bed and Breakfast tariff, the size and quality of room and breakfast were astounding, all for a very reasonable rate. Check out was very quick and efficient.

We were enormously pleased with the Glen Mhor Hotel in Inverness, and will probably stay there again in the future

Room Tip: Book a river view room for a few pounds extra, well worth it

“Lovely Hotel - Bar and Food VERY Expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Stayed here for New Year , Had a lovely time however the Bar prices are really expensive .Would have like to ate in more but could not afford it .
1 beer and a Double Gin and Tonic = £17.00 !!
Breakfast lovely , however the waiters/ waitresses seem clearly stressed which was noted in their approach to guests.
Special thanks to Marta and Emmanuel .
Happy New Year to you all

“Good Location”

The best thing about this hotel is its location and yes there are areas where the could make the place better but for an overnight at the price it's not the worst place i've stayed in Scotland. We had a back room 219 it was spacious and onsuite and had large flat screen tele. The room was clean and yes there were some staines on the carpet but i've seen the same in higher stared hotels. Only real gripe was the towels they leave them on a shelf under the wash basin. The shelf is wooden and a bit damp the bottom towel was damp and stained. We opted to eat and drink out as the bar and restaurant prices were a bit high. The staff were mainly foriegn but did there job well and were always pleasant. The breakfast was ok but I personally prefer a buffet breakfast and if you don't like something its not on your plate. Would I stay here again ? Yes but only if i had to.

“Value for money hotel but expensive food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Quite a charming small hotel located very near and within walking distance from Inverness town centre. The hotel has some great features including a reading room overlooking the river Ness and a small cosy old fashioned bar with a real fire. Cleanliness was excellent all round. The hotel does need some renovation and updating. The bathroom was very old and the light switches from the 60s / 70s. Quite a few bulbs needed replacing. The tv in the room had awful reception and kept shutting down. The remote did not work. The hotel is very well heated. Nico’s bar served high quality food but was very expensive for what it was. The shepherds’ pie @ £10 was no bigger than an airline meal. The soup said it came with homemade bread but it didn’t arrive. It was difficult to get the waiting staff to come over. All of the staff apart from the receptionist were foreign and to be honest lacked any warmth or friendliness / smiles. It would have been lovely to have some real Scottish hospitality. Breakfast is included in the price but the bacon was like rubber and the sausages were just a cheap pork sausage. Maybe I have visited too many hotels now and watched the hotel inspector too much but this place lacked a few simple things which they could do to improve and enhance customer’s stays. Over all it was a very reasonable price for the room if you pre pay. Late rooms.com offers the same price. Just one final thing, the sign at the front of the hotel says reception straight on but you actually have to do a left then through the front door. A little confusing. Would I stay here again? Yes for the price and the cosy bar it’s not bad just not great.
