“Excellent Stay”

We stayed for one night a couple of weeks ago having arranged a special deal at £40pp D/B/B through a website. The room we were given, whilst at the back of the hotel, was excellent size with lovely decor and a more than adequate shower room. Everything was very fresh and clean. Pre dinner drinks taken in the cozy bar which was lovely and then we ate in the Conservatory restaurant overlooking the river with all the trees outside decorated with Christmas lights. The choice and quality of the food was excellent and the service from all staff from reception, to bar to waiting staff was first class. Breakfast again was a delight with a huge choice on the buffet table and the full Scottish which was delicious. We hope to go back again very soon. Really have to mention all the staff again. Well done everyone.

“prefect for weekend accommodation”

We booked the hotel via laterooms.com. Stayed for one night and was welcomed by big smiles from friendly staff. We found the room nice and warm with plenty of space, our room had a view of the river which looked very nice with all the Christmas lights along the bank. The bar was also very nice and warm; somewhere you can chill out and enjoy a vino or two. In the morning we were greeted by friendly staff that were very helpful. We ordered a full cooked breakfast; this was needed to set us up for the day which was fresh and tasty.
This hotel is a 5 – 10 minute walk to the shops and restaurants, no need for taxis!

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view (104) if possible.

“Basic but ok for a night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

Stayed for one night and on arrival was greeted by friendly receptionist. Was allocated a room on the first floor which was fine for us but as I did not spot a lift, this may be a problem for some less mobile guests. Room was warm and comfortable with all usual facilities. Room looked onto a brick wall but with a partial view of the river. Curtains in bedroom were very thin but did have a good nights sleep since it was still quite dark in morning but think you'd be up with the lark in summer.
Bathroom was disappointing as the shower door was off its tracking and getting in and out was a problem. Don't understand how cleaning staff had not reported this as they must have had same problems as us.
Breakfast was good. Cold buffet selection adequate but hot Scottish breakfast was freshly cooked and served to you. This is served in the conservatory overlooking the river, stunning and a lovely start to the day.
All shops and bars etc are a short stroll away which makes it an ideal location. Would go back as the good points slightly outweighed the bad ones.

“Never go back.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

We booked the room via 'Rooms.com', seemed a reasonable. The room was small, facilities included a TV with digital channels, hairdryer, ironing board and an iron. However had to take the ironing board out of the wardrobe to be able to use the wardrobe.
Bathroom was fine except the shower leaked. However I don'y know why was unable to get a good nights sleep thanks to the bed.
The food provide a mixed results. The restaurant is ideal overlooking the river, the service is excellent. My wife had had sea bass with sauce vierge, but was accompanied by a vine of tomatoes. Such a waste, as they were not on the menu and she dislikes them. My meal was called Ham and Chicken pie. However it was watery, tasteless and topped with a potato and leek mash. Very disappointed. My wife had the Vegetarian breakfast, which she enjoyed, i had the Full Scottish, which was ruined by the odd tasting tomato and very poor qulaity toast.
However for all that the service was excellent.

Room Tip: Pay the top price and ask for twin beds. It might help.

“Very Welcoming & Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

I stayed at the Waterside for the second time last week whilst in Inverness on business and was again happy with the experience.
The hotel is friendly, clean and tidy. The open fire in the bar is very appealing during the winter months!

The restaurant is very good with reasonable prices and plenty of variety.

Rooms are basic but comfortable. Breakfast was also very good.

Only 5 minutes walk to the town center which is very handy.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel when visiting Inverness. I shall certainly return.
