Booked this online one day in advance. Booked a superior double room at the late room price of £80. when we arrived we were charged £80 on our checkin card and sent to room 26 in the next building. Immediately on entering the room we knew it was not what we had booked as it was the same as the website picture for an executive room which was £10 cheaper on the website. I went to the reception to query it only to be told they didn't have any superior rooms left! When asked why we had been charged the higher rate the receptionist went off somewhere to speak to a manager who I assume was not on the premises but at the end of a phone. I then was given different excuses about system changes, receptionist just back from holiday and a mistake being made. The receptionist said as a gesture they would charge us the rate of £70. I had to point out that the rate for the room we were in was only £70!! I honestly don't think she was bothered that we didn't have the correct room. A young gentleman then offered us a bottle of champagne as compensation, I declined as we don't drink champagne, as it was already dark and after 5pm and I opted to stay and requested a bottle of red wine instead which did arrive at our room 30 mins later. I feel cheated that we didn't get the room we had booked, we would have booked another hotel with similar rooms if we had known we were just getting a standard room, by the way the executive rooms are cramped and there is barely enough room to walk round the bed. Wood furniture is bashed and chipped. We decided on principle not to eat in the restaurant which we had planned to do and took our custom else where. Incredibly disappointed with the way our booking was handled and would not recommend this hotel.
