This hotel was recommended to me by friends in the Scottish Highlands for an overnight stay en route to Skye. It turned out to be a first rate choice, ideal for a weary traveller arriving in Inverness by train after a tiring journey. Clean, well-appointed accommodation with good food and friendly, helpful staff. What more could one ask?

We stumbled into this hotel by chance, and was very pleased with our random choice. The rooms were comfortable, the service was good, the price high but not intolerable, and the location was excellent. We only stayed for one night, but had nothing to complain about during our visit.

Overnight in Inverness and chose this hotel based on past reviews and proximity to station (5 minute walk, tops)

Welcoming staff on reception, check in dealt with speedily and efficiently. We let slip that we were in Inverness as a birthday treat and when we returned from a meal out we found a bottle of sparkling wine in the room, compliments of the hotel. We also requested additional pillows, and these were delivered to our room within about ten minutes.

Room was a reasonable size, with a wet-room bathroom which is not something I have encountered before. Overnight the room was cool and quiet - there was a very quiet hum from possibly an air conditioning unit nearby but it wasn't intrusive at all. The double bed was comfortable, although being used to a king-size bed at home it did feel a little small.

We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening, but the buffet breakfast was very nice and included in the £55 room rate which I think makes for excellent value. Lots of choice and the hot food was hot.

Summary - very convenient location in the city centre, clean, comfortable and friendly.

Room was clean and spacious, didn't have much contact with staff but when we did it was friendly and polite.
Free Independent newspapers in the foyer each day was a nice touch.
Breakfast buffet had an excellent range of items for the price, of a decent quality.
The hotel is very central, a minute or so from train or bus station and shops, tourist info, etc all nearby.
Not a fan of the wetrooms and open-plan wardrobes that many chain hotels go for these days, but not a reason not to choose the hotel again.
