“Fantastic location and restaurant let down by noise from adjacent rooms and main road.”

Staff were friendly on arrival and apologetic for loss of booking through booking.com Had to change room due to leaking downpipe outside. New room was loch view which lived up to its name but was let down by very poor sound insulation causing uncomfortable noise levels from both the nearby main road and inconsiderate guests in adjacent room. Food served in the restaurant was fantastic with generous portions, lack of residents only bar curtailed drinking to normal bar hours. Wi-Fi, although stated as being available had poor signal strength in the room. In summary, a lovely location, improvement in sound insulation would ensure a very satisfactory stay.

“Loch Ness Comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

The Clansman Hotel was located right on Loch Ness with some rooms having balcony views of the Loch itself. Simply cross the road and board your tour boat of the beautiful Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle (spectacular) People most friendly and welcoming. Fantastic coffee lounge attached and tourism shop to purchase a variety of souvenirs from magnets of Scotland to little Loch Nessie ornaments and toys. Bed was very comfortable but was reluctant to sleep as balcony view of Loch was just so beautiful at both sunset and sunrise. Just a short car ride out of stunning Inverness. Will definately visit again and highly recommended.

Room Tip: Request room with a balcony view of the Loch. Pre book if possible for this. Well worth it!

“A perfect start to a perfect holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

My girlfriend and I spent a week in Scotland during mid November 2011, starting at Inverness and ending back across the boarder in Newcastle a week later ready for the flight back to Somerset. The Clansman was the first nights hotel and I have to say that it is without question, one of the best I have ever been to and made a perfect start to our holiday. We arrived late afternoon and were quickly shown to our room where to our delight we had been given a free upgrade to a king size room overlooking the loch with its own private balcony, the views were breathtaking and the accommodation was both clean and comfortable. After settling in we decided to head to the restaurant. The food portions were extremely generous and the quality was excellent. On top of this the restaurant is situated overlooking Loch Ness making the atmosphere all the more enjoyable. Breakfast the following morning was just as impressive as the evening meal beforehand and checking out was as painless as checking in.
The staff were all extremely warm and welcoming and I cannot highlight enough just what a breathtaking position the hotel occupies, so much so that my girlfriend and I ended up getting engaged down by the Loch and we are seriously considering arranging for our reception to take place at the hotel.

If your considering a trip to Loch Ness and need to find accommodation then look no further than The Clansman!

“Make sure you book a room with a lochside view!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

The electricity went out at around 7pm on the day we arrived. We sat in the dark in our room (luckily we brought a charged laptop) for 2 hours before we were asked to move to their sister hotel. They do not have a 24 hour Reception so I can only assume the two young girls who dealt with us worked in the restaurant. We followed an employee in our car for 15minutes to a different hotel. We were greatly upgraded as their sister hotel is the Loch Ness Country House Hotel (which is upper 4 star) and stayed in a beautiful suite. Although we booked the Clansman for the view and location alone, and ended up in a hotel without a view of the loch, losing power was not the fault of the staff so we did not complain.I think they dealt with the situation well.

Good points:
-view of the loch IF you book a lochside room
-location with the Jacobite Loch Ness Cruise departing right opposite the hotel

Not-so-good points:
-main road is inbetween the hotel and the loch
-the tv in the bedrooms are tiny
-they do not have a 24 hour reception
-20min drive to Inverness for food unless you want to eat in the hotel
-condition of the rooms are okay

Room Tip: Get a room with a loch view!

“EXCELLENT STAY !!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

It was a very quiet Sunday evening, there were very few people in the Hotel , but this did not spoil what was an excellent stay, infact it has to be better than being surrounded by many many other tourists from all over the world, which the undoubtedly get at most other times of the year.

The Hotel is superbly located on the banks of the Loch, with its own jetty across the road (Use the subway passage to aces the Jetty as the road can probably be quite dangerous to cross as it is quite narrow.)

We were checked in quickly and easily by the pleasant young lady on duty, our room was located just at the end of the corridor, with a superb view out across the lake.

The room was large, clean and had a HUUUUUGEEE bed!

As stated, it was extremely quiet in the hotel, and there is not a great deal to do, especially when it gets dark at about 4 in the afternoon - we ate in the restaurant (nice fish and chips) and had a couple of drinks and that was about it

It had snowed overnight, which added to the general ambience,

Next morning we had an excellent breakfast sitting at a window seat with views across the Loch - simply stunning

The manager at check out was extremely friendly and we spent some time talking to him before leaving. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay, it is also excellent walking country if the weather permits!

Room Tip: Rooms - 1-4 - excellent views and just down from the restaurant/bar but far enough not to hear any n...
