“All good, friendly, warm, comfortable!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

I stayed here to play at a Christmas 'do'. Lovely and warm, spacious entrance hall, bar and TV lounge with a fab big fireplace. Fantastic function room - excellent food - the carvery looked and smelled delicious! I had the stir fried veg with rice from the bar menu - supposed to be a starter but it was a meal - really tasty! Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable bed with lovely fresh white linen, good shower and nice big towels....fresh fruit and yogurt on the breakfast buffet as well as hot cooked breakfast items - really great! Thanks Andrew - will come and stay again when all the work in the Wick area starts pouring in!!

“Welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

I recently stopped at the hotel at the finish of a classic car rally. We were a big party so filled the hotel. Hallways, stairs and the rooms a little run down. However everything worked in my room. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Nice bar and lounge area. We had a wonderful formal dinner with great food. The early breakfast service was also good. Plenty of car parking space directly in front of the hotel.

“I always ask for The Norseman when in Wick”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

I have to go to Wick on business a few times a year and the Norseman always suits my needs. I stayed here again last week just for one night and it's always a welcoming place after a long drive from the central belt. I had called ahead believing I may arrive after 11pm but was assured by the kind gentleman on reception this would not be an issue.
As it turns out, I managed to get there for 930 and was greeted warmly. The rooms are needing a revamp and this is in hand but the bed was ever so comfortable with very fresh linens on it.
I had some bar snacks in the TV lounge where I enjoyed free wifi and was told the next day by Andrew the owner that this would soon be available in the rooms too. Anyway, back to the TV lounge, the very nice young chap from the bar very kindly brought me over a poofee to rest my weary feet after a long day!
I had a good nights sleep despite being at the front of the hotel, if I stay there when on night shift I always ask for a room at the back.
The breakfast was fresh and first class, the hot options are from a buffet and were very fresh, toast on your choice of tea and coffee were brought to your table, there was a good choice of yoghurt, cereal and fresh fruit too.
All in all, a friendly welcoming place, great staff, nice TV lounge, great breakfast, good beds.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front look over to the river, rooms at the back onto a garden and benefit from no road...

“Good Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

I agree with the majority of comments regarding the Norseman Hotel. From the outside and in the bar/restaurant area it seems run-down and old fashioned. However, the rooms are really nice/modern and the food is great. My only issue was that my shower didnt work properly but its nothing to worry about. Check-in and out was easy and staff were acceptable. It has its ups and downs - ups definately outweigh the downs though. Thoroughly reccommend.
