“Very disappointing”

Arrived with my husband, mother and father after a very tiring drive, looking forward to a nice relaxing evening and a good nights sleep. The outside of the hotel looked 'ok'. We went for a drink in the bar while the staff were finishing preparing our rooms. Bar was alright, but seats and tables were rather grubby looking. We were then given our keys and went up to dump our cases before heading out for something to eat. Our room was not too bad - a little tlc needed to finishing decor touches but we were reasonably happy with it. I went to check on how mum and dad were getting on and discovered my mum in floods of tears. The room that we had waited for to be prepared had 3 very unmade beds in it and the ensuite had piles of wet towels all over the floor. Staff were very apologetic and agreed to waver our charges as we set off to find alternative accomodation. All in all a very disappointing experience, and one that tends to leave an unfortunate sad taste in the mouth.

These guests were allocated the wrong room, we are very sorry but these things occassionally happen. They refused to even look at the correct room. An innocent mistake that could have been rectified immediately had the guests been cooperative. To brand the hotel very disappointing and give 1/5 is very unfair in my opinion.

“Nice stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

Second stay in 2 years, and would recommend it for a short stay. Clean, comfortable, free Wifi, bar, and good breakfasts, staff all very friendly as before. Room was large and well appointed.

“just right for what I needed.”

Just back from a business trip to Wick. Stayed one night in the breadalbane house. Theres no frills or anything with this hotel but it is a 2* hotel afterall. Myself & my colleague were upgraded free to double/family rooms despite only booking a single room. Rooms were large clean & better than id expect in a 2* hotel. Breakfast was a very tasty full scottish breakfast which gets a thumbs up from. The guy working reception was very helpful. Didnt spend a massive amount of time there but for what I needed it was just right & if im back in Wick this is where I will stay,

“Bed sheets had not been changed!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

I arrived at about 9pm and after the 6 hour drive to Wick all I could think about was a hot shower and a good nights sleep.
My first impression of the room was good, freshly painted with a new bathroom suite, on the surface crisp and clean.....
After that long awaited shower I got into the double bed and all I could smell was someone else's body odour!!!!!!
On closer inspection the mattress cover had been changed as were the pillow cases, but the quilt cover smelled like it hadn't been changed in a week and It had the remains of someone's midnight chocolate biscuit melted onto it.

At this point it was getting near 10pm, and I phoned around alternative hotels in Wick only to be told they were full, but I was able to made a booking for the following few nights. that night I slept in my clothes and checked out the next morning. I didn't waste my time complaining because if they can't be bothered changing the bed in the 1st place than they probably couldn't be bothered listening to my complaint, never mind acting on it.

Perhaps the £45 price tag was too good to be true........For clean sheets stay somewhere else!

This was an error made by the cleaning staff. The guests room had been made up that morning as there was a long term guest staying in the room. That guest then decided to return home for a couple of days and the room was let to the reviewer. Due to a breakdown in communication the room was not stripped and remade. For this we can only apologise. If the guest had made us aware of the problem we would have rectified it immediately.

“OK but overpriced, room had many faults”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2009

Stayed in one of the refurbished rooms. The refurbished room was OK on first arriving, though on being in the room for a few minutes there were clearly signs of water leak stains, broken bedside light, couldnt get the towel rail to work, neither did bathroom blind, loo was a sani loo type and was very noisy , one of the sink mixer taps was very loose. To give an indication of the level of attention to detail of the refurb. the shower mixer tap was plumbed the wrong way, hot was cold, and cold was hot.

The room may have been fine straight after the refurb. though it's clearly showing signs of wear. I've stayed in much better places for less money.

Staff were friendly enough, and the breakfast was good.
