I had a reservation. The hotel was fully booked so they offered me a "luxury" lodge.. Sounded nice.
When I arrived they handed me the keys to my "no smoking" lodge. I walked from the hotel towards the lodges and thought, mmmmm they look a bit run down. I opened the door to the block and the smell of cigarette smoke was very strong. I opened the door to my "lodge" or room as it is more accurately described, and again was hit by the stench of ciggies. I had a quick look around and within 2 seconds had decided there was no way I was staying in a dump like this.
I looked at the beds. There was dirty marks all over the walls behind the beds, it looked like from people's heads rubbing against the wall whilst sitting in bed. The place looked tired, dirty, horrible and stunk. I went back to reception, said no thank you and left.
2 work colleagues have said the hotel was really nice, but had warned me not to go in the lodges. I thought they were having a laugh, but no, they really are bad.....

Room good size, clean with lovely view over sea. Meal in evening spoilt by uncontrolled children running around the tables - both staff and parents oblivious.

I stayed in one of the lodges here for 2 nights last month. B+B was £30 per night, and the room was cleaned in the morning. I found the bathroom 'furniture' to be dated, but i could see that there was extensive renovations going on, so am sure it would only be a matter of time for that room to be updated. Ultimately, i wasn't bothered because you only need a room to sleep in after a long day of sightseeing/exploring!
The receptionists were very friendly and helpful.
All in all, i'd stay here again, no problem!

My husband and i stayed for two nights, the receptionist was super friendly and very helpful, we had not booked. Room was large and pleasant with a clean well fitted on-suite, and comfortable bed. Food was fresh and good if a little over priced. only downside was very noisy couple in next room, but hotel staff were apologetic and offered to move us if any other problems arose. nice touches in room were fresh fruit and shortbread biscuits. double aspect windows gave stunning views over sea. also a free taxi to the sister hotel and restaurant in Scrabster, just ask in reception.
