Stayed here in December 2011 for two nights. A very convenient 30 second walk across the road from the railway station.
Really nice decor and ambience when entering the lobby, and it felt typically Scottish as soon as we walked in.
Very attentive friendly staff made us feel most welcome, and I would not hesitate to stay there again..
The pub/bar section of the hotel has a huge selection of wiskys, and a book listing them all and their characteristics is available to peruse for wisky novices like me..
All in all, an excellent hotel and would recommend.

My family were booked in as non residents for the hotel's ceilidg/dinner. It proved to be a most memorable new year with a superb meal, attentive and pleasant service, enjoyable dancing AND a great firework display. What more could we have asked for? We will return

A traditional hotel well located with a quaint Scottish theme. Food is good and rooms well presented. Reception staff were helpful in advising us on local activities. We just made the unfortunate mistake of bringing our children.

From 9.30pm children are restricted to either the bedroom or the foyer (next to the draughty front door) of which only 4 small tables are provided - prepare to stand if you haven't got a seat. The website advertised evening entertainment - pub quiz etc to which we were advised was highly popular with locals and guests alike - so popular the quiz was moved to the function suite. But to our disappointment we were informed we would be charged a total of £18 ( £3pp)
to attend then leave an hour into the quiz as (according to the manager) children - even 12 years old - became irritable and annoying to other guests.

The manager commented in the most patronising of ways that ' it was licensing laws' - This is accepted however the hotel should provide somewhere for families to enjoy after 9.30pm. He also stated that 'If we had travelled from down south (England) he would have bent the rules' clearly travelling 4 hours across Scotland wasn't enough. Bar staff were friendly and efficient. Although breakfast was stressed - staff were brisk and intolerant.

It would appear locals were favoured over guests.

We also visited other hotels in the area and discovered that they were much more family friendly.

To summarise, We will be seeking other accommodation on our next visit to the beautiful Aviemore.

Have visited Aviemore for several years now for a one night "Dinner Dance and stay" at another hotel but decided to try this hotel on a recommendation from travellers we met last year. We were booked in for the "Christmas Party Night." Despite our reservations of a "party night" we had no need to worry and had a great time. There were only about 80 people there and it did feel like we were at someone's party, it was lovely. The atmosphere was great and the other guests as well as all the staff were very friendly. The menu was not typical "party food" and the food was very nice. Our room was very cosy, the bathroom was a little bit cold and a bit dated but it had everything we needed and the heater soon heated it up. There were 13 of us and all of us were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The bar at night was very busy and had live music in it. They do lovely food in the bar and restaurant-can also recommend their soup and sandwiches! The Hotel was decorated as a typical "Scottish" Lodge and was very warm and welcoming.
