“A Scottish delight”

I took my daughters for a short break on Boxing Day and our first taste of Scotland and main objective to visit the Reindeer Park nearby. (which was amazing!)

Shelagh and her son were so welcoming and could not have done anything more to make us feel welcome and at home. The home cooked meal and breakfast were first class and mulled wine and cakes in front of roaring log burner in the delightful lounge was a real treat.

Our rooms were immaculately clean and cosy with a breath taking view over the hills and fully kitted out with a multitude of teas, coffess, biscuits and sherry! (As cabin crew I have stayed in many hotels and this is by far the nicest, cleanest, most characterful and friendliest I have ever known!)

Having no car we really appreciated the lift to the Reindeer Park and needless to say we will be returning again for a quiet break away - thank you so much and all good wishes to all at The Old Ministers House - Jillie, Katie and Sophie

Room Tip: we had rooms at the front but all would have a lovely view

“A very Happy New Year.”

My wife and I stayed at the Old Ministers House for new year and what a great place we have found. From the moment we walked through the doors to begin our stay to the moment we left it was nothing short of Magic. We were greeted with mulled wine, cakes, and short bread to get us started off, the mulled wine was really tasty and a nice wee warm up too. We then set off to check out our room for the night. We were in a room at the back of the house overlooking the lovely river which runs past the back garden, so we had a lovely view and we had a lovely room to go with it. Plenty of room, comfortable bed, a little bottle of Sherry with "drink me" labelled on it and a lovely hot powerful shower in the good sized bathroom. Once we had checked out the room we then went down stairs to see the guest room. Yet again another lovely room. The fire was going, it was cozy, the couches were comfortable, loads of books to read, even the cushions that decorate the couches had a part to play in making this one of the coziest rooms we have ever been in, just perfect to come into and relax after being freezing cold outside. We then set off out for the evening and asked the owner what there was to do etc. She told us everything we needed to know and even offered to sort us out with some tickets as she was going to be in another establishment with a live band, all we had to do was call her and she would get tickets for us. In the end we didn't go to the same establishment as the owner went to but it was really nice to have been offered. Breakfast the next morning was brilliant and it was just what the doctor ordered to sort out any sore heads picked up from the night before. Just a last little mention for the owner. She is great, we both thought she was brilliant from the start, very relaxed and any questions we had she had an answer for us. We won't go anywhere else in Aviemore for a room if there are rooms available at the Old Ministers House after our visit. Thanks again for a great stay and hopefully see you soon.

P.S to any travellers going to the Old Ministers House, try the tomato sauce with your cooked breakfast. It's magic.

“Well kept secret”

Beautiful - perfect location, immaculate character house in a very convenient and lively location
Warm welcome and friendly service. The new owner was very well informed and was able to give me lots of useful tips on where to go in the area.
The house is cosy and immaculate, bathrooms well appointed - never short of hot water. The location was amazingly quiet with very effective double glazing in our bedroom. Soft towels and fine bed linen - one of the best nights sleep I'd had in a long time.
Breakfast is an experience in itself, very punctual and efficient, with home baking and every option cooked to order.
A truly amazing experience. I would highly recommend The Old Ministers House and can't wait until my next visit.

“Over-priced and poor location”

Stayed at the Old Minister's House for a relaxing break in October. We were not happy with the accommodation. The welcome from the staff was cold and short. Our room was large and seemed well decorated but on closer inspection, we found it was not clean, dust and hair along with some used tissues - not nice! The guest house is right on a busy/fast road that even had "boy racers" revving down it into the night. We had a poor sleep. Breakfast was cooked and an average experience, nothing to complain about but nothing worth merit. Considering we paid close to £100 per night, The Old Minister's House proved bad value for money, in our opinion. We shall not return and do not recommend.

“Wonderful stay”

I have just stayed at The Old Minister's House for the weekend, it was full, the atmosphere was fantastic, the home baking was melt in your mouth and the most delicious breakfast. The new owner was very very knowledgeable of the local area with lots of wonderful suggestions and even made a romantic pick-nick lunch for two! There is no busy road and no single glazing on the property that I came across. I was wondering if the last reviewer stayed at the same Old Minister's House that I did, as I found the new owner to be charming and totally welcoming and cannot recommend this guest house enough.
