“Everything we had hoped for”

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Corrour House for six nights and found it just perfect for our needs. About a ten minute walk from a lovely pub serving brilliant food and ale, and 15 mins from the centre of Aviemore itself. We received a lovely warm welcome from Carol and Robert, and just loved the fact the open fire was stoked and ready for our arrival home every day. The decor is very traditional - perfectly in keeping with the setting - and the rooms immaculately clean. Both Carol and Robert are very knowledgeable about the local area and helped us with ideas of where to go no end - nothing was ever too much to ask! The views of the mountain pass from the front of the hotel are just amazing, too, - this is the great thing about this place. You're very close to civilisation, but far enough removed to feel like you are out in the wilds, with deer and red squirrels visiting every day! We actually travelled to Aviemore by train, so can vouch for the fact that everything is accessible on foot if you are reasonably fit (as in, if you can walk for fifteen minutes or so). We were even able to rent skis and get up to Cairngorm Mountain as you can flag the ski bus down from the end of the drive. Can definitely recommend the nearby Rothiemurchus Estate too - the Land Rover safari is just brilliant! All in all this was just great - lovely setting, lovely people, fabulous breakfasts, a wonderful open fire and a perfectly restful break. Just what we had needed! Thank you, Carol and Robert!

Our second time at Corrour House and again a warm welcome from Carol and Robert. Rooms spotless warm and comfortable. Good breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit.

“Lovely night spent in Aviemore”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We spent one night in room 5. The room was very quiet and clean and comfortable. The owners were good hosts and friendly. The cooked breakfast was excellent, the best I have had in a B&B.
We enjoyed activities nearby in Aviemore, and the house is a short walk from the town.

“Beautiful location but rooms basic for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

Lovely house and gorgeous location Good cooked breakfast and handy for everything we wanted to do. Decor was a bit twee - more 1970s than Victorian lodge and not sure about carpets in bathrooms. Not really worth the price but it is Aviemore I guess.

“my second home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

I first found this hotel in the late seventies when touring with my brother, we both returned every year up to 1986 when the
mother and daughter who ran it left, I then returned 1990 and 1994, after which I could not get back for the next eleven years. When I finally got back to my favourite hotel in the whole of scotland I found a lovely couple running Corrour House and the standards had risen to a very high standard, But most of all is the way someone the owners didn't know at that time was taken under their wings and made to feel like an old friend. I have now returned another five times since 2005 and I can honestly say that Carol and Robert are now true friends of mine.
The hotel has one of the best views in Scotland, set in the most beautiful part of Scotland.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful place to chill out and in a part of Scotland that you can not better.

Room Tip: try for one looking up the mountains
