“Shocking food, poor service”

Went for lunch on 30th April 2011. Ordered 2 pizzas and chips with friends. One pizza uncooked, even after sending it back once. Raw pizza dough not appealing. Chips even worse, arrived with a hair in them. No extra charge for this service. Shocking attitude when returned pizza for 2nd time. Neither apologised or offered alternative choice. Took it as read no refund at that point. Disappointing food. Disinterested staff. All in all, a shocking place to eat. No idea how it stays open.

Room Tip: Avoid at all cost

“Give it a chance”

We needed accommodation for the Paul McCartney gig and booked in here-£60 b&b for 2. Ok so it's not a country house hotel but it's clean, quiet and comfortable. The new owner was lovely and whilst they haven't been able to restore it to it's full potential, they've clearly given the bedrooms a luck of paint as an interim measure. Staff really friendly, food in pub tasty and good for value and overall a good stay! Is stay again if was going to a gig at hampden- only 10 min walk. Have stayed in far worse places.

“Great location for Hampden park, but check out their plumbling first....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

Our room was ok and reasonably spacious - it had been recently painted, but had been done in a rush and it was very rough around the edges (windows and bathroom doors wouldn't open or shut with ease, top of the tv and sockets and edges of the carpet all had paint on the them ) - this is a shame as the building and communal areas have great potential and lovely original features.

We had NO HOT WATER for our overnight stay - apparently an intermittent problem - the owner, despite being in the hotel, did not feel the need to apologise to us for the problem and would only consent to a 20% reduction in our bill which we feel did not compensate for the lack of hot washing facilities.

A good location for Hampden Park - Bed was ok - pillows dodgy - breakfast was ok (although not much choice if you don't want a fry-up) - Staff (apart from the owner) tried their best, were polite and as helpful as they could be.

I hope you find this useful - I have tried to be objective, but a hot shower or bath is essential for me, especially after dancing at a concert all night, and I was really not happy with a 20% reduction in my bill in compensation.

“Shabby hotel, poor management”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

I and three friends stayed at this hotel as it's near Hampden Park and we were attending a concert. The location was great - about a 20 minute walk, but the hotel needs some money spent on it. Our room had been decorated on the cheap - windows wouldn't close, tatty carpets, second hand wardrobes. The worst thing was that there was no hot water on the night of our stay or the next morning. Apparently the boiler had broken down. The coward of a manager sent out a member of staff (lovely girl and very apologetic) with £20 to get rid of us. We told the girl it wasn't enough and she went into his office (he wouldn't speak to us) and she said he won't give you any more back.
