“Decent budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Stayed here for a night last week when in Glasgow on business. The hotel and room were clean and quiet and the room itself was a decent size with a plasma TV and a good shower. The bar was small but pleasant (no Sky Sports but for the price you pay can't really complain) and the restaurant, while empty, served decent enough fayre. Location wise it's near enough to the city centre (10/15 mins walk) and obviously has SECC/Armadillo on the doorstep although the view is hardly stunning. The staff were very friendly and I would (and most likely will) stay here again when working.

Minor criticisms; the staff didn't have a great knowledge of the local area (looking for a cash machine, turns out there's one five minutes away), the bed was a bit too soft/springy and it would be nice to be able to get more toiletries than shower gel and soap (i.e. a toothbrush, razor). Plus they advertised a biscuit in the room along with the tea and coffee and this was notable by it's absence!

Dear Mikecoxon

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the ‘GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY’ that we offer. I am surprised to hear from you that you thought that our staff members did not have great knowledge of the local area, this is actually something that we pride ourselves in, as all our staff receive a thorough induction to both hotel facilities and surrounding area places of interest and facilities, and the only thing that I can think of is that you engaged with one of our newest members to the team, that perhaps have not done their home work! We have a number of staff members that have recently joined us and are not from the local area, but that is no excuse, I will be giving them more homework about facilities available around the SECC area, and thanks for bringing this to my attention.

With regards to the extra toiletries that you mentioned, unfortunately we will not be providing anything more than we provide now, this is a standard throughout Campanile, and like most things when you start to add more and more, this can be reflected in the price you pay, and we prefer to keep our price reasonable. Sorry about the biscuits you did not receive, we have had a supplier issue with these just recently but delighted to say we are back on track and have plenty to go round, but sorry for the disappointment in the first place. Let me know when you are next coming to stay with us and I will personally ensure that we double up with the biscuits, as they are moreish!

Kind regards

“Going to the SECC? Look no further!”

I was in Glasgow for the Dream Theater, I normally stay in The Mint or The Crowne Plaza when going to the SECC or The Armadillo, well, not any more. Friendly staff, good steak, nice little whiskey collection and a comfy bed. The room rate was fantastic, with very good value for money in the restaurant & bar. I found the management & staff to be chatty & helpful. I have a new base for my Glasgow gigs.

Dear Rhysethan

Welcome to Campanile Glasgow SECC! Thank you for your cracking endorsement. I was over the moon when I read your comments stating that you preferred us over the Mint or Crown Plaza, two big competitors that we share the SECC vicinity with, and hotels that we respect enormously. Whilst we are in the same neck of the woods as it were with these two hotels, we are the closest to the SECC, I like to think we are the cosiest in the ambiance that we try to create and offer great value for money, if not the BEST VALUE FOR MONEY, and it is wonderful to hear that you appreciate this. From our part we intend to maintain this.

We all look forward to welcoming you back soon when you are attending your next gig at the SECC.

Kind regard

“Average Score doesn't quite explain it.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The Camponile Glasgow is a strange hotel. It is cheap for a city centre hotel, but then again its just on the edge of the city by the SECC. There is free parking. The food is OK and the bar is OK with a limited selection of beers. The rooms are clean and tidy if a bit small. The heaters work, the TV works and the keys work. The bed is comfortable. But I keep being drawn back to this place. It is not gourmet food, it is not super sharp, it is not luxurious bedrooms. It is not just the price either, although for a business traveller its a great price.

I stayed there again last week on business and joked about staying at the "campanile" again. When I arrived at the hotel it struck me what the attraction is.

The staff are the most genuine, polite, helpful, thoughtful, caring people I have come across in a hotel. Nothing is too much for them and they smile and are welcoming all the time.

Thats it. Great value, Great staff.

Room Tip: MAke sure to ask for a double if thats what you want. Quite a few twin rooms in this hotel.

Dear DuncanB

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your wonderful feedback on TripAdvisor. You mention that the material service was OK, and that is OK, but your comments about our PERSONAL SERVICE is GREAT, and that is GREAT!

It is refreshing and delightful to hear from one of our guests that recognise that the core root of our business are our staff and without such accommodating, genuine and sincere staff a business could not survive, well not our line of work, hospitality. After all, we are in a people business!

Thanks again and my team and I look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.

Kind regards

“Value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I didnt pay much for this one night stay, I was on the top floor, rooms are quite small, the fold down bed which doubles as a sofa had burn marks on it, there was a constant droning coming from above the room, I think it may have been the boiler room, the room was clean, the bed wasnt to comfy, when you moved the springs clunked, and next to the tea and coffee there was a little card that said about comp tea coffee and biscuits but there was no biscuits, to be found, all in all it was ok.

“Ideal hotel for SECC and quick trip to Glasgow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

Stayed a couple of nights when visiting an exhibition at the SECC. Quick check in & had a room on 4th floor. Asked for more pillows which were delivered without fuss. Nice & quiet with no late night noise. Had our son with us which made it a tight squeeze but ideal for our requirements. Bed needs replacing as springs very noisy and prominent in places and shower room light didn't work. Advised front of house staff so should be acted on. Didn't eat in restaurants so can't comment but useful to have tea/coffee facilities on room (says u get biscuits but we had half penny sized sweets?). Cheap & cheerful place, u get what u pay for so if u want 4/5 star stay elsewhere.

Dear Unicorn1265

Thanks for your recent review, and glad to hear that you enjoyed our hospitality. Sorry to hear that you you experienced a few problems with your bed, we have a number of mattresses that are systematically being replaced and do apologise for any discomfort or inconvenience that you encountered on this occasion. We do certainly provide biscuits to accompany the tea and coffee that we provide, and upon further investigation should like to inform you that our stock of these particular biscuits had been depleted and we were awaiting a delivery. Unfortunately this was not brought to anyones attention earlier otherwise we would have made alternative arrangements. Happy to report that we now have taken delivery of this stock and biscuits are in place for all to enjoy.

Your comment with regards to 'cheap & cheerful' I would prefer to say 'GREAT PLACE TO STAY FOR THE PRICE YOU PAY', we are certainly cheerful, great value for money and the closest hotel to the SECC and the new Indoor Hydro Arena.

Please do let us know when you are next looking for accommodation in the Glasgow area for exhibitions, concerts or city breaks and we would be delighted to make the necessary arrangements.

Kind regards
