“Nasty Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

stayed here last saturday.the apt itself was was ok although a bit chilly, there could be more thought given to the layout, the mirror was near the plug socket but the light was at the other side of the room.
the staff when we arrived (mid afternoon) were ok but the night manager was rude, unhelpfull and in my opinion aggresive, just an all round horrible man.
on the plus it was in a great location for our needs. we faced onto argyle st so had no problem with the club downstairs.
this accom is promoting itself above what it actually is, tbh only slightly better than a travelodge.

Room Tip: go elsewhere

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. Firstly I agree with your comments regarding our location Merchant City is Glasgow’s historic centre, a vibrant area teeming with restaurants, boutiques, theatres and pavement cafes.

With regards to your room we are about to begin a refurbishment which will resolve the logistical issues within the apartment.

I am extremely disappointed regarding the comments made about our Night Manager. At Fraser Suites Glasgow we take pride in all our team members and as a team we have achieved investors in people award. With regards to the events of the night you stayed there are as they say 2 sides to every story. Your actions and behaviour of the night in question resulted in our Night Manager having to step in to minimise disruption to our other guests. It is unfortunate that he was left with no other option than to involve the police to have you removed from the premises.

I would like to reassure anyone reading this review that we take the safety and security of our guests very seriously and any guest causing significant disturbance to other guests or staff, be it through noise, aggression or dispute, can be asked to leave the property before their departure date.

Regards,

Robert McLaughlin

“Find somewhere else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed at fraser suites, Glasgow, two nights ago. A lot has been covered previously by others, but will give our experience. Room had an unpleasant smell, windows are not double glazed and if you happen to face onto Albion street, `it's noisy, particularly on a weekend. The windows are also draughty. The suite was tired looking, the kitchen cupboard above the cooker hob was covered in grease! Not good! Walls in need of a good paint. Do not be fooled by the website pictures, we booked the place going by the pics and it is misleading by a long shot. We were also told by staff that given our complaints, we would be contacted by the general manager.....still waiting.
Do yourself a favour, stay somewhere else! Fraser Suites is in need of a major upgrade

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. I’m sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us.

We are about to start a full refurbishment of the building and as part of this we will be addressing the problems with the windows which will resolve any problems with noise and drafts. With regards to the cleanliness of the apartment I have passed your comments onto our housekeeping manager who performed the necessary retraining where required.

Please accept my apologies that no one contact you as agreed. Should you wish to discuss your stay further please do not hesitate to contact me on robert.mclaughlin@frasershospitality.com

“Great Facilities, friendly helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

If you are after a bit of independence with some hotel advantages this is for you.
Each suite has a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need to heat up or even cook meals. and M&S food hall is near, also a Tesco etc..... so all is convenient.
Nicely furnished,if a little tired. but cosy and comfortable.Rooms at the front have a nicer outlook but can be a little noisy at weekends but nothing a pair of earplugs can't sort! Rooms at the back look onto a car park - its a bit grim and not too tidy down there.
They are in the process of up-dating the bathrooms so make sure you get an up-graded bathroom.... the older ones are really in need of attention. I was booked into one with a very nasty rusty bath, but was moved immediately by a most helpful desk-clerk, who agreed that this bath was un-useable. The location is great for the town centre, for Merchant City shops and restaurants -Try the fab Cafe Gandalfi- and the business centre. I would also ask if there is a room with Venetian blinds or screens because you can be overlooked by the offices over the road. .... They leave their lights on all night and I prefer not to close my curtains at night - like to see the sky, but not a lot of bright office lights!
This is city centre living and makes for a great choice if you like to be able make your own breakfast, coffee, supper etc - what you want, when you want it!
Do also make the trip up to the West End though, Hillhead metro -its all a bit more village like up there - beautiful architecture, and everything you need in the lanes and gardens around the centre of the universe "the Byres Road"

Room Tip: ask for an up-graded bathroom, at the front for a better outlook.

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. I agree we do make a pleasant alternative to a hotel and our central location makes us the ideal base for exploring the wonderful city of Glasgow.

I am glad that we were able to rectify the problems you experienced with your room. We are in the process of replacing our bathrooms ahead of our full refurbishment which is due to start shortly.

I look forward to welcoming you back soon.

“superb value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

I travel 150 days a year from 3 to 5 star in many locations. I am a shareholder of my company so i care about value but also i expect to stay well. this gives both. No frills in the lobby or other services, but superb BIG rooms a real apartment good well equipped kitchen and great comfortable bed (im very picky this is as good as Marriott or Le Meriden beds). location is very good in glasgow walk to great shops and central attractions. Overall very good for the price pay for 3 Star get 4 star whcih is why i gave it 5 stars!! clean big comfortable. Bathroom a bit minimalist and not flashy but shower toilet and sink are all there and work well, but the living room and bedroom are great. for a long stay really good choice.

“Just Right”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

Spent a week in room 406 with my wife on a shopping trip. Large room, kitchen with all necessities. Good location only 10 minutes walk to main shopping streets, the Barras, train stations and airport shuttle bus. No problems with noise either internal or external. All in all a good place to stay.

Two negatives thus only a VG rating. No WiFi in rooms and connection expensive. Only one large waste bin so segregation of rubbish not possible. I think in the 21st century management should be addressing these issues.

Room Tip: Top floor away from Trongate and Albion Street
