We visited Glasgow last month and had a lovely stay at the Charing Cross Guest House. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful from our arrival till departure. The rooms are small and basic but on the whole, clean. Breakfast was good but i prefer smoked bacon which unfortunately wasn't available. WiFi connection was excellent and location was perfect for me as needed to be near the Glasgow School of Art.

This place is well located and has nice staff, however the rooms are small with very old run down furniture. My first impression was to be slightly horrified- it certainly wasn't what I expected for the price or from the website. The wi fi is intermittent. I had a single with an ensuite and the shower was nice, but there was a used soap in the holder and a re-rolled roll of toilet paper next to the toilet. I rang to cancel my final night stay 3 days before checking in, then emailed to confirm the request, but this wasn't actioned by the time of my stay, and despite assurances the refund should hit my bank account in a few days when I left after a 6 night stay, they have yet to refund me the money.

We arrived at 1.30am to find they had increased the price from £57 to £95 because we had been to a Take That concert!!!!!!!!!! We thought we had booked a triple room which we had but it only had one shower & one bathroom on the whole floor for everyone to share. This was dirty and mouldy!!! When I asked I was told this was a triple standard - my reply was BOG STANDARD trying to con people into paying ridiculous prices for shabby dirty accommodation purely because an event was on !! A youth Hostel would be 5**** compared to this. They gave me my money back and we left for a 2 hr journey home in the middle of the night!! There pictures on there web page do not show how bad this place is!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place won't win any prizes for looks. Yes the interior is outdated, but it's clean and the service is brilliant. Breakfast is also huge and tasty too! Although we had a shared bathroom it was great to have a sink and mirror in our room. Wifi service was disappointing though, struggled to maintain a connection to it most times we logged on.
