“Everything within easy reach”

I stayed for one night as I was in Glasgow for a Celtic Connections concert. It was my first stay at the Alexander Thomson. My room was very clean with a good selection of toiletries and tea/coffee facilities.I also had a friendly welcome at reception. My room ceiling light was out so I just operated the bedside lamp. There was no problem getting access after the concert. The central location was great for walking round the city streets but conversely I was woken several times during the night by a couple having a domestic row outside and some kind of ramp that clunked every time a vehicle passed over it.There was also a large concrete pillar in the middle of my room which I took notice of to avoid seeing stars!! However the breakfast improved my demeanour as it was excellent and the staff were attentive and courteous. The music playing quietly was better than the usual piped garbage! It was also good to check out without feeling pressurised. Despite the hotel looking a little "tired "the fact is I would stay here again as it presented value for money in difficult times and everything was within easy reach.

“excellent position for a city trip”

Visited this hotel last year, went back again in January 2012. Different room this time - very clean and the beds were very comfortable but the the bathroom was very tired looking, reported broken loo seat and they did come and tighten it up but it was very tatty. Breakfast was again supberb and staff very helpful & friendly. This is a great hotel real value for money, found it even nearer to the shops this year and transport around the city is first class. Possibly some of the rooms need a bit of TLC but it is a clean and well run hotel. Would go again.

“Mesmerising Scotland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I always believed in 1st reaction the last impression. Well Aleaxander Thomson Hotel had "WOW" factor for us. We had been for a small break to glasgow, our first visit. We were excited to be in the land of scotches. The best part of the hotel is its location- In the middle of the city centre. Every thing is walking distance.
Nice pretty room. Only a bit small but what the heck, its clean and hygenic. The bathroom was neat. Everyday you get your towels, Water and cookies replenished. The breakfast was scrumptous with few egg preparations, croissants, baked beans, juices, tea/coffee, bacon, yoghurt, parantha etc etc. And of course the Muffins.
The staff were helpful and they are quite caring. Wonderful small hotel to stay. I would definitely stay in my next visit.

Room Tip: Book in advance. Ask for a room with the main road facing. However its less noisier.
