We just spent the night at the Brunswick as we were at a party in the Penthouse of the hotel. Our room was indeed small as they had stated themselves, but was clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. As mentioned in trip advisor reviews, the decor is dark and a bit off putting, but everything was made up for by the warmth and hospitality of the staff. From the moment we arrived, nothing was too much bother. The hotel bar and restaurant is shabby to look at, but the ambience, food and service were excellent. Book your table to be sure to get one, and definately eat here.
The breakfast may look basic when you walk in, but it is included in the price of the room, and staff were not satisfied until they had offered a seemingly never ending selection of hidden extras of continental style options and an array of coffees I had never heard of. Cheerful and vibrant, staff arriving for work on a Sunday morning (some who had been in the night before until the early hours as guests can drink in the bar until 4am) were relaxed and happy, adding to the good feel of the place.
We didn't expect a view, and liked the quietness of the streets. It was noisy until 2am as staff had told us it would be, but music stopped exactly when they said, and all was quiet with no sound of traffic in the morning.
Room Tip: Probably quieter the further up the floors you go, but do expect the rooms small and the decor poor...
