“dissappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2011

lovely looking building from the outside, but inside it is run down and in dire need of refurbishment

decor is mid 70's and looks like it hasn't been touched since the mid 70's

cleanliness was less than perfect, leaks in teh plumbing around the toilet, toilet seat cracked, dodgey wiring to sockets in room

worst breakfast I have ever had in a b&b

location was excellent but there have to be better b&b's than this as this is possibly the worst run and managed b&b I have ever stayed

when leaving my wife politely mentioned some of the pitfalls, the owners shrugged their shoulders, amnitted that they knew about the plumbing leaks and were not in teh least bit concerned

Room Tip: find somewhere else

“charming hotel in luxurious west end of glasgow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

we stayed 2 nights with a 5 months baby. The hotel is lovely, very charming and Scottish entrance hall and reception room. breakfast was served in the room- choice of english, salmon and eggs or muesli end fruits. The hosts were very nice and welcome us with open arms, both the man and wife came out to greet us. The hotel itself is in the west end, close to robert carlysle's house, very posh huge houses, very leafy and quiet. The hotel is 5 min walk from the west end with lots of restaurants.

“Can't wait to return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2010

Our experience was far better than some of the previous reviews of this Edwardian period B&B. Rosemary and Douglas Rogan were charming and attentive hosts. So were the other staff members. Breakfast (yummy) arrived hot and at the requested time. Rooms were comfortable and clean, as were the bathrooms. Good price, outstanding location. Quiet, but easy walking to shops and restaurants. On-street parking readily available., We had a total of three rooms (two single and one triple) for a week. Would definitely book again.

“Found hairs on the bedding, but was told that it wasn't the day to change the sheets!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2010

I expected so much more from this beautiful building, but alas that is but a facade for what lurks within. My welcome was distinctly underwhelming. It was as though you are a slight hindrance to the owners. I found long black hairs on the POLY-cotton bedding and asked for it to be changed. The maid informed me that it wasn't due for a change. Surely grubby sheets have no timetable!? There is a lack of attention to detail...grime-encrusted tv remote...dusty ledges. Horrible aqua 1970s bathroom. The whole bedroom is tired and out-dated. The Kirklees reminded me of a faded Hollywood star, the looks have gone and it relies on what it once was. Definately not worth the money. Returning to Glasgow in July. Hotel du Vin here we come!

“Good location and quiet sreet but needs to improve housekeeping standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2010

Good size rooms, quiet location. I was disappointed that the bedding was very poor quality - no crisp cotton sheets, alas. I also expected good standards of presentation and cleanliness, which was not the case. Did not feel particulary welcomed. Our room is in need of refurbishment. Room info stated that the hotel was licenced and this is no longer true, so up to date and accurate info required.
