“Worst hotel I have ever stayed in.”

Bathroom full of mould, shower held together with tape.
Shaving light in bathroom falling off.
Coffee making facilities dirty from last occupant.
Quilt on bed only just reaches from side to side.
Water stains all over bedroom ceiling.
TV just about working, need to retune every so often.
No wardrobe.
No phone in room, even though it states there is.
The Scottish tourist board have given this place 2 stars, that is an insult to the whole Scottish tourist industry.

“Getting what you pay for.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Firsrtly, this hotel is not as bad (at least, wasn't for me) as some of the reviews suggest. Yes, it has dated decor, and there are some slightly nasty features, such as mould above the shower and dirty nets by the windows (but then again, this is the same in my house). But for a reasonable rate- a quad room was £18.75 each a night, cheaper than a hostel- we had access to a clean and tidy hotel room with a beautiful high ceiling and original fittings, a good cooked breakfast (though this perhaps stops a little early during the week), free wi-fi, and a helpful check-in service. Was impressed that we were asked to pay at the end rather than the start, a nice change from most hotels! It is about 10 minutes walk from the main party are of Sauchiehall Street, but is quiet around the hotel, and around 10-15 walk from the main campus of Glasgow uni, the central point of our conference trip.

So really, if you just want somewhere safe and convenient to lie your head, there is nothing wrong with this place. If you will be out most of the day but want relative comfort in the hotel, this place is worth considering. If you want luxury, prepare your bank account for a pounding and look elsewhere- this is not a secret gemwhich offers 5 star luxury for budget cost.

“I'll stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

Didn't know what to expect after reading the reviews, but fair is fair - it wasn't that bad ! It could do with a face lift. Problem with water explained to me when I arrived - possibility of no hot water owing to electrical problems with burst pipe. Had hot water to take a shower. No water at all in morning, but was told that if plumber couldn't fix it, we'd be moved. Came back in Monday evening - all fixed. Front reception staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were fine with good porridge. Some water stains on bedroom wall. TV great with free view, kettle with plentiful tea and coffee supplies. Bed fine. Nothing to complain about really - not that price anyhow.

“I can see nothing has changed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

Not sure why they call themselves a hotel . The front desk staff were very friendly but that didnt make up for the shoddy state of the hotel itself . Our bed was lumpy , shower curtain was falling down and the water took about 30 mins to regulate . Our room stank and clealy hadnt been properly cleaned or aired or fabrezed before we checked in . They could upgrade a little with a small outlay of cash but I guess they dont really care .

Spend your $ 60 on something resembling an actual hotel rather than this dated , dirty throwback to the 1970's - not enough retro charm to justify the inflated price .

“Disgusting!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2011

I stayed at this hotel a few years ago now I think it was 2008 at the time I didn't realise Tripadvisor existed, I did leave a review on the site where I booked it and heard nothing. It must be the most horrible hotel in the whole of Glasgow, I booked it because the photos on the webiste made it look really nice and as I used to live in Glasgow the area used to be a really good area, not now!!! How disgusting can a hotel get before it is closed down. Our room was basic to say the least, it was sheer luck that we weren't burnt by the shower as it kept running cold then scorching, we kept telling the desk about this but nothing was done. Thankfully we were out most of the days we stayed and only had to sleep there. I would say don't go to this place.

Room Tip: Don't Go!!!!
