“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

We spent a week in Glasgow and stayed at the Barrisdale. Could not have been in a better place. A bit out of downtown but in a great off-street location. A short walk to the bus or train station and either take you right into the city in a matter of minutes. Ron, our host, was outstanding. He provided us with a lovely continental breakfast (much better than most) and great tips and advice about the area and culture, which made our trip that much more enjoyable. We would definatley stay there again.

“Great value and charm in Glasgow.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

I definitely recommend staying in this B&B in Glasgow instead of a hotel in the city. This is a charming older building with very large rooms and high ceilings. The owner is very friendly and talkative and is quite helpful. The nearby pub serves good dinners for a very reasonable price. Free parking is available on the street. The continental breakfast was filling and was a nice change from all the Scottish fry breakfasts. The location is near a train station into the heart of Glasgow.

“What a lovely welcome to Scotland!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

We cannot express enough gratitude for the excellent hospitality, friendliness and guidance provided at Barrisdale during our 3 nights' stay. My partner and I were newly arrived postgraduate students who had never before been to Scotland, let alone Glasgow, and we were experiencing all of the excitement and anxiety that comes with relocating to a new country. Ron was incredibly helpful and full of information that made us familiar with the areas of town, good pubs, how to find a place to live, and history of Scotland. We highly recommend Barrisdale as a warm and cozy place to stay while you are in Glasgow - all parts of town that you would want to visit are easily accessible, and there is a nice pub within walking distance :) We hope to run into Ron at quiz night one of these evenings down on Byres Road!

“Cosy Friendly - a home away from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2010

We stayed in Barrisdale for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Ron was friendly and warm, always with a big smile. He gave spot on recommendations for dinner (Three Craws opposite the house and The Brye Inn at Brig o' Turk) and scenic driving routes. Rooms were cosy and breakfast was tastefully delivered every morning to the rooms. Location is in a nice quiet neighbourhood and good for get around Glasgow either on public transport or by car (Parking is free). We'll definitely go back to this warm home!

“Absolutely outstanding. If you ever visit Glasgow, stay here!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

We were attending a close friend's wedding as a family and Barrisdale was recommended to us by the groom. Ron is the most gracious host and was a font of knowledge and expertise not only about Glasgow but also other 'must see' spots in Scotland. We stayed for five nights in the family room - the beds were very comfortable and I don't think any of us have ever slept so well when we've been away from home! The breakfast was delicious, varied and very filling. Even our teenage daughter enjoyed every moment of our stay (particularly when she got to meet Bunty and Meg!). Both Ron and Aileen were warm, friendly and very welcoming, and any questions we had (i.e. where on earth do we buy envelopes for the best man on a Sunday morning??) were answered with enthusiasm and impressive accuracy. It was almost a home from home despite us being 480 miles from our own front door! Ron is cheerful and always entertaining, the room and the house itself were very clean and the next time we visit Scotland this will definitely be where we stay. There are plenty of local places to eat your evening meal, yet the house is situated in a very pleasant, quiet residential area. We would not hesitate to recommend Barrisdale Guest House to anyone staying in Glasgow.
