“PLEASE READ - WE HAD TO LEAVE IT WAS SO BAD”

This place is absolutely disgusting, and I have written a large number of reviews, and this is the only time I have ever wished I could give zero out of five.

On arrival at the Lomond Hotel, as other reviewers seem to have experienced, we filled out some paperwork and were then told that our room was in fact at the Botanic Hotel, which is just Great Western Road. The staff at the Lomond were rude and made no apology for us having to go across the road in what was pouring rain.

On arrival at the Botanic Hotel again we were met by a rude receptionist who seemed angry that she had to deal with customers. We were given our room number which was on the top floor and, on entering the room, it was without doubt the most disgusting I had ever been in.

The carpet was so dirty that there were large bits of dust/hair etc and it had clearly not been cleaned in a long time. The toilet light didn't work, and the window sill was stained black with coffee cup marks and various other messes. We were obviously not happy at the state of the room, so went downstairs to complain and it just so happened that the cleaner was at reception as well, and she soon started to argue that the room was clean, so the three of us all went up and looked at the room. The cleaner then admitted that it was a tip, and asked if we would stay if she hoovered the room for us.

We politely said that we would not be staying at the hotel, and had to drag all our bags back over in the rain to the Lomond Hotel again to speak to the manager.

Don't be tempted by the cheap room prices - if you are looking for a cheap room in that area, the Clifton Hotel across the road is a million times better (this is where we ended up staying).

The place is absolutely disgusting, by far the worst I have ever seen and nothing at all like the photos on the website. The staff are rude and quite how they are still in business I do not know.

Room Tip: Do not stay at this hotel

“Absolutely disgusting”

This hotel , if you can call it that is incredible. No lights in the communal toilet and so i was told to wait until the owner came back from the cash and carry with a light bulb before i could use it. The electrician was in the toilet later fitting a bulb but i wasn't prepared to wait any longer so urinated in the bedroom sink. It was cleaner than the toilet after i relieved myself. The room was tiny and the door had to rub against the bed to get in. The whole plac was filthy , with wall paper hanging off the wall, wobbly handrails and yet they say on their website its contemporary decoration!! Would not recommend this place to an enemy or a homeless person. Had to queue for the shower constantly and goodness knows what deposits were left by the previous users! 3 star??? You must be joking. This should be investigated by environmental health. Had booked and paid for 6 nights as i had a family funeral to attend, stayed elsewhere after 3 nights in the hotel and came home a day early.

Room Tip: Dont stay here, thats my tip

“Good location”

The two good things about it are: 1. location, and 2. wireless internet works (but only on ground floor).

Nevertheless, I would not recommend it. The rooms could be more or less ok for that price if just cleaned regularly. The hotel would be more or less ok for that price if there was good personnel who would more or less have an idea what hotels are about. They're not bad people, they just don't understand things, and their English is rather poor.

Even if there's shower in your room, that doesn't mean you can have a shower in your room. The water pressure may be too low.

Room Tip: Have a look before you decide to stay

“Just don`t do it”

We booked this hotel hastily as we needed somewhere to stay for 1 night in Glasgow. I only looked at the reviews the night before we were going. BIG MISTAKE. I was indeed worried and made up our minds I wouldnt be staying unless i could inspect the room. The descision was taken out of my hands when a female from the hotel rang me at 8pm the night before we were going and asked for my card details, I refused and told her that she could have my details when I had seen the room, she then told me then the room is cancelled and so I agreed with her. This was after booking online with my card, I immediately contacted the online booking agent and they have been very supportive ,please be warned.
