“The coolest and comfiest hotel in the city!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

My boyfriend and I live a fair distance apart so for our Valentine's weekend - he wanted to go all out and book a room in town. Following Tripadvisor's ratings, we booked the CitizenM. We didn't know a lot about it - but we were not disappointed. Right in the centre of town, just off Sauchiehall Street, you cannot fault its location, especially since we were having a night out. The hotel itself as soon as you arrive is visually very impressive. Cool designs and slick colours just overwhelm you as you travel from the door to the reception area on level 1. The check in / check out system is totally computerized, which ties in with the technological theme of the hotel. However, if you are not technologically minded, there are very helpful greeting staff on hand to assist and answer any questions. As we made our way into our room, we were not disappointed. It was exactly what we had hoped for. Compact, yes, but had everything you should need. The decor is modern and fresh and the bed is crazy comfy. My boyfriend is a tall guy at 6'3'' and the bed is so huge, he didn't even take up a 1/3 of it. Technology controls the perfect blackout blind, the "mood" lighting and the TV - which allows you to watch free movies (half of which are adult movies!). The shower is amazing. Very large and powerful. Extremely refreshing. The sleep you get in this room is really good considering you are very close to the theatres and Walkabout club. Didn't hear a thing! Also, the bar looked really cool with a huge selection of cocktails but we never got the chance to try. Upon checking out, you are able to leave your luggage, which is tagged for safety, which I find a big plus as a lot of the budget hotels do not offer this service. Overall, we were so thoroughly impressed with this hotel, we came home and cancelled our stay at another Glasgow hotel for the evening before our summer holiday. We are even planning a October trip to Amsterdam and seriously considering the CitizenM there. Well worth a try!!

Room Tip: We had the room right next to the elevator and heard nothing so room selection might not be a proble...

“Amazing hotel! Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012 via mobile

The hotel is a prime location in Glasgow city centre, the staff were lovely and extremely helpful adhering to every need. The room is outstanding, for all it is quite small, there was plenty room, the bed was out of this world and makes my bed feel like sleeping in a cardboard box haha! And as for the mood pad... WOW SO COOL!!! The hotel itself is really modern! I have full intentions of returning asap, best hotel I have ever stayed in

“Great for a couple of nights stay....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Loved the concept self check in and the bar/canteen for drinks/breakfast etc. Would say that I thought the food a little on the expensive side but I suppose you are paying for convenience.

Rooms would suit a couple staying for one or two nights, great big bed, wide selection of films, free wifi, washing facilities not luxury just a shower so if you are staying over after a night out/city break OK. I understand that they only offer the big king size bed option so if you are mates/family staying away might not be so comfortable. We were staying for a night as part of a two week holiday in the UK so we had 2 large suitcases and there really wasn't enough space to accommodate them and us; as said better for a couple of night stay with no onward bound journey.

Location good 5 mins walk from the shops etc and for those driving the car park is a 5 min walk away (and you get a discount), you can get to/from the Motorway really easily so no stressful city map reading.

“Blade Runner meets Travelodge - 10/10 for concept, 10/10 for gadgets, couple of basics need sorting.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Well, there is a lot to love about CitizenM:

- Free wifi at a decent speed & easily accessible on multiple devices.
- Remote control lighting & blinds.
- Decent library of movies for free.
- iPod dock next to the bed.
- Alarm clock feature which turns the lights on and does everything bar make the tea & perform oral pleasure.
- Shower room with posh rain shower and handheld hobby
- Lovely choice of "AM" or "PM" shampoo/showergel - top quality smelly stuff!

Where I think it could be improved:
- Generally a bit up its own [--]. The marketing copy is just a little *too* smug and cocky.
- The ironing board is secreted in some stairwell somewhere. I accept that you don't go somewhere like this for the ironing entertainment, but it was a bit of an anticlimax. Did I just refer to ironing as an anticlimax?
- No cereal at breakfast - WTF? Loving the fresh, continental vibe of the place, and they had a large selection of fried food at breakfast. But as a veggie, I need more than some week-old apples (had the texture of a ripe peach, yuk) and bruised bananas. I'm on business - I'll hand over someone else's £7.95 or whatever for breakfast, just give me a good old "Weetabix or Fruit & Fibre?" dilemma. I'll let the tourists at the croissants and black pudding. And please make sure your fruit is fresh - it was minging.

Anyways, other than that, I doff my cap to the bold approach and generally the risks pay off. Sort me out a simple, decent breakfast, get the Marketing Manager off the coke and I think we have us a world-class hotel.

“BUDGET travel should Never be boring! and this NOT”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I get this, and there will be copy cat incarnations of this concept some where near you soon!
I loved it and the blond wished she had been warned about the self checkin and the mood lighting which some will love others like me can take it or leave it!
the TV needs a little TLC but you will get there!
Join the movement! and you know it is a success when you see the trendies and suits and world travellers all congregating in the bar, it is imaginative and simple and works!

Room Tip: The computer says room . . .
