“Lovely hotel, would highly recommend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We stayed at the Acorn hotel on Saturday night and was very pleasantly surprised on arrival. At first we were slightly concerned it was too much out the way from the city centre but actually it is only a 5min taxi journey which cost about £6 to the other side of town and the good thing was its located away from all the hustle and bustle of the town centre. There is free parking on Saturday nights too which was a bonus and parking bays directly opposite the hotel which we could see from our room.

The Rooms are exactly to the pictures advertised, modern decor, extremely clean and bathrooms to a very high standard with a great power shower. Lovely! Bedroom was a little snug but done the job and we were very comfortable. Bed was comfortable and we got a great sleep. Noise levels were not an issue even though our room faced the main road.

On arrival Charlie at the reception desk was extremely helpful, helped us find out bearings for our evening plans and organised a taxi for us which arrived within 2mins of making the call. Very pleasant staff willing to help out.

Breakfast was also very good!

Coming from an extremely fussy female who likes her comforts, I would recommend this hotel and will be returning again in the future next time we are staying in Glasgow.

“Ideal location and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My partner and I went to Glasgow for a short break (Fri-Sun). We decided against taking the car and took the bus instead. With only hand luggage each this was a striaght forward walk to and from the bus station.

Situated by Kelvingrove Park it is ideally situated for visiting the Kelvingrove Art Gallery/Museum and the Riverside Museum. It is also a short walk away from Sauchiehall Street, the shops, restaurants and bars.

The room was clean and warm. The bathroom was modern and spacious. The shower was glorious, I could have stood under it for hours. Just what you need after pounding the streets of Glasgow all day!

Charlie on reception was cheerful, helpful and unusual for a man, very good at multi-tasking! His full English cooking at breakfast couldn't be faulted.

If you don't want a cooked breakfast there's a good choice of cereals , fruit juices and grapefruit.

When booking the room I was surprised at how cheap it was, but pleasantly surprised by the facilities when we got there. Any future trip to Glasgow will involve staying here again. Well worth the money.

“Good City Centre Hotel”

Stayed here in December whilst attending a concert at the nearby SECC.
Room was clean and tidy, breakfast in the morning was also good. Tiny little criticism would be why do they only have one member of staff on duty covering everything (even though he was very helpful and efficient)?
Worth a second visit as it is handy for for both the West End and the City Centre.

Room Tip: Room number 8 is double aspect and could get a bit noisy.

“So very good that I've booked another stay”

This is such an excellent hotel that I have returned already and booked a further stay. There are so very many things to commend: the understated yet classy design of the rooms, the choice at breakfast, the free Wi-Fi, the hotel's delightful quirkiness, the location (walking distance from the city centre yet on a quiet side street), and above all the outstandingly welcoming and helpful staff.
I am really looking forward to coming back.

“Simple and Smart Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I booked the Acorn through bookings.com aftre much deliberation and comparison against other hotels in Glasgow; but due to the location decided on the Acorn. The booking was part of a surprise for my partner for his birthday and we arrived around 7pm.
The room was a simple, but most of all quiet (We were in Room 8 that looked over the street/corner to the road). I had chosen the Acorn for this reason as it is just outside the city/business district but close enough to walk to either the city or the west end (where we eventually chose to eat). We were Room Only, but it would've been nice to know whether or not we could've ordered room service (as we discussed treating ourselves to breakfacst in bed in the morning), or been given the option to add this on at check-in. No information on room service/hotel information was provided (just a guide to glasgow) in the room.
Other than that we had a pleasant stay and we would use the Acorn again, for exactly the same reason. We would also recommend the rooms to friends and family visiting the area; value for money, clean and comfortable.
