I stayed here with my two young children, on a weekend visit up to Glasgow. Though I used to live in Glasgow, and have visited many times since, this was the first time I have stayed in any B&B accommodation.
We were all really impressed by Glasgow Guest House. I completely agree with the other reviewers --- the strongest point of this B&B is the wonderful owner, John, who is just amazingly helpful and friendly. He knew we were arriving late, and waited up for us. We had a comfortable room, and John gave us a room that would accommodate us well, but was slightly cheaper than the one I first thought we would go for. it turned out to be just fine for our needs.
The breakfasts were great --- I really recommend the fruit platter, which I had on both mornings, and loved. My kids both had croissants, and were very happy with that. On the first morning, my friend who lives about a mile and a half away drove across to pick us up for a day's visit. John invited her in for a coffee, which was extremely friendly of him. The living room area is very nice and comfortable, and there is a bottomless chocolate bowl which my children were invited to take advantage of by John more than a couple of times!
As others have said, the rooms are quiet and there are no issues with traffic noise. You have complete access to the kitchen, which is unusual for a B&B and very helpful. Tea, coffee, juices, and also the ability to heat up food and eat it there if you don't want to eat in a restaurant.
On our last morning, I asked whether we could leave our bags while I took my kids to the park. John very kindly told me I could hang on to the key, and once we were done, just drop it through the letter box if he was not back from a brief outing. We did this, and left for the bus stop, to go to my friend's house. As we were walking along, we saw John, driving back home, with a friend in the car. He hooted and waved, and we waved back. To my surprise, a few minutes later, he came back in the car, having dropped the friend, and asked me where we were headed. Up the road to Pollokshields, I said. We were almost at the busstop. Hop in and I will give you a ride ... and he did. Completely beyond the call of duty. I am almost hesitant to mention this, in case all guests expect it! :-). Great guy and great guest house.
