“Friendly and relaxing”

I stayed here wtih my husband & 2 daughters (10 & 14) for 2 nights in Sept 2011. We stayed in the 2br self-catering apartment. John, our host, could not have been friendlier or more helpful. On the first night we headed out for dinner (intending to walk) but ended up going in the completely wrong direction and then it start to rain! We phoned John for directions and next thing we know he arrives in his car and drives us to our destination. Talk about above and beyond the call of duty! The guest house is spotless, the breakfasts are great and you feel at home immediately. The location is good as well.

“What a GEM!”

I have stayed in a number of top quality hotels and this guest house gives many of them a good run for their money! The guest house is beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and full of lovely features. John (the owner) is amazing! He literally goes the extra mile to make your stay as good as it can be! Good value - a real bargain and lthough not in the city centre the guest house is only one stop away on the train which runs regularly and on time!
I cannot recommend this guest house enough - I am already planning a return trip! Thank you John! By Sally

Room Tip: I stayed in the double room that you can see on the right hand side at the front. Very tastefully fu...

“Wonderful, welcoming B&B”

Stayed here with family for a wedding at the nearby House for Art Lovers. We had a very warm welcome from host John, even though we were early we were shown to our rooms and fresh milk provided for a most welcome cuppa. Nothing was too much trouble - even sourcing skimmed milk upon request.
Rooms beautifully furnished, beds very comfortable, had 2 very good nights sleep. Lounge extremely welcoming and comfortable.
Fabulous breakfasts - full Scottish on the first morning, then had the fruit platter on the 2nd morning - what a delight, fresh and beautifully presented with added yoghurt.
Taxi's into the center of Glasgow very reasonably priced if ordered by John.
My daughter and granddaughter took the train into Glasgow one stop down the line and very convenient.
Parks very close for children to play.
We would certainly stay here again if in the area.
Thank you John.

Room Tip: As a family of 4 we had the apartment - excellent and very quiet.

“Amazing Guest House Experience........ A Must When in Glasgow”

I stayed at the Glasgow Guest House when visiting a friend in Glasgow for 1 night and i have never felt so at home-from the moment i arrived till the minute i left, fantastic easy to reach location- tons of parking spaces, impressive building and gardens and an owner that is a real credit to this guest house-Johns passion for his guests and his eye for detail around the house is second to none.Ideally located for Visiting Glasgow as only 5 min walk from Drumbeck Train Station which is 1 stop away from Glasgow Central. Our room was very taste-fully done from lamps to bedding and an amazing comfy bed- Breakfast was fantastic to-i had a fresh fruit platter which is a must when you stay but every option from Full Scottish to just cereal was avaliable. Also avaliable to guests is a very well equipped kitchen where you can make your own tea/coffee or heat up your own food a fantastic touch!!!!-All that is really left to say is that when i am next down in the Glasgow area i will be staying here again and will recommend it to all my family and friends-Thank You again John for a fantastic relaxing stay.

“Great B&B, lovely owner who goes the extra mile --- literally!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

I stayed here with my two young children, on a weekend visit up to Glasgow. Though I used to live in Glasgow, and have visited many times since, this was the first time I have stayed in any B&B accommodation.

We were all really impressed by Glasgow Guest House. I completely agree with the other reviewers --- the strongest point of this B&B is the wonderful owner, John, who is just amazingly helpful and friendly. He knew we were arriving late, and waited up for us. We had a comfortable room, and John gave us a room that would accommodate us well, but was slightly cheaper than the one I first thought we would go for. it turned out to be just fine for our needs.

The breakfasts were great --- I really recommend the fruit platter, which I had on both mornings, and loved. My kids both had croissants, and were very happy with that. On the first morning, my friend who lives about a mile and a half away drove across to pick us up for a day's visit. John invited her in for a coffee, which was extremely friendly of him. The living room area is very nice and comfortable, and there is a bottomless chocolate bowl which my children were invited to take advantage of by John more than a couple of times!

As others have said, the rooms are quiet and there are no issues with traffic noise. You have complete access to the kitchen, which is unusual for a B&B and very helpful. Tea, coffee, juices, and also the ability to heat up food and eat it there if you don't want to eat in a restaurant.

On our last morning, I asked whether we could leave our bags while I took my kids to the park. John very kindly told me I could hang on to the key, and once we were done, just drop it through the letter box if he was not back from a brief outing. We did this, and left for the bus stop, to go to my friend's house. As we were walking along, we saw John, driving back home, with a friend in the car. He hooted and waved, and we waved back. To my surprise, a few minutes later, he came back in the car, having dropped the friend, and asked me where we were headed. Up the road to Pollokshields, I said. We were almost at the busstop. Hop in and I will give you a ride ... and he did. Completely beyond the call of duty. I am almost hesitant to mention this, in case all guests expect it! :-). Great guy and great guest house.
