“Ignorant owners failed even to respond at all to our e-mail enquiry.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2009

It could have been that there were no vacancies for the dates we asked about, but surely we should still have been afforded the basic courtesy of a reply? Accommodation providers such as these do nothing to enhance the reputation of a welcoming and hospitable Scotland and, as such, are not deserving of custom.

“Lovely B&B and excellent value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2009

I loved staying at this B&B. The owner was friendly and I just loved having the chickens running around in the garden. They produced some excellent eggs for breakfast. The location is ideal as it is within 5 mins of the harbour and the town centre. The rooms are simple but nice and clean. The location is excellent and there is free parking unlike most of the other B&B's in the centre of St Andrews. Great value stay.

“A haven of peace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2007

This was our third visit to Abbey Cottage. It is excellent value for money. The rooms are clean and cosy. The breakfast is delicious and plenty of it. Sharing a large dining table in a beautiful room gives an opportunity to chat to other guests. The owmer is very welcoming and helpful. The cottage garden is a delight.

“Only if you want to stay a night close to St. Andrews”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2007

The location is good and the price is good -- but the B&B-keeper runs her B&B like a boarding house. No comfy talks or helpful hints. The woman is a very interesting artiste -- photographer and musician, but the B&B seems to be a way to make money without extending a lot of other niceties. Also everything is "half" -- bath curtain half way around the tub, half a board in a sagging bed, which resulted in a severe back strain for me. Also asked for full Scottish breakfast and got a scowl for that. The scrambled eggs are not from her hens but taste suspiciously like the powdered kind. Be aware.

  • Liked — Close to St. Andrwes
  • Disliked — Run like a boarding house
