“4 Star service & comfort.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

This is such a lovely B&B with '4 star' service and comfort.

I booked this for my wife and I as a valentine trip away to St. Andrews. As soon as you arrive Elaine makes you feel welcome. The room was extremely cosy and welcoming with a huge bed and lots of pillows and cushions. It had a very good selection of tea and coffee, with a small fridge containing bottled water and a small jug of milk. The home made shortbread & fresh fruit was a lovely touch. A good selection for breakfast and portions fit for a king.

Overall this is a lovely B&B that we would highly recommend and will return to the next time we are in St. Andrews.

“A great place to stay”

I was booked into the Balrymouth guest house by the PGA, as i was working on the Dunhill links golf tournament, and although arriving around 9pm, i was met by Elaine and welcomed in to her lovely guest house, shown my room and its facilities ,had breakfast ordering explained, etc and given my keys.Breakfast the next morning ,there was lots to choose from ;3 types of juice,3 types of cereals, grapefruit or prunes or home made scones/cakes as well as toast and a full scottish fried breakfast. Elaine is a fantastic cook and you could not ask for a better host.she loves a chat ,asking about your day ,or what you are doing the next day, really helpful with local advice from sightseeing around st andrews,or where you can watch/play golf .and gets on well with all her guests..
The room was spotlessly cleaned every day,a very comfortable double bed with lots of pillows,a small built in cupboard with storage area for a suitcase and a hanging rail for your clothes, a television with freeview (does sometimes lose its signal) wireless internet connection ,dvd player and two chairs. There is a chest of drawers , with a kettle on top with a variety of teas/coffees/ hot chocolate and packet soup all topped up daily and a small fridge with a jug of milk and bottle of water plus a selection of fresh fruit and 2 pieces of shortbread.
There are two booklets for the golfer/ non golfer for activities around the town and a selection of dvds,
There is a hairdryer, notepads ,sewing kit in the drawers.
The on suite bathroom is always spotless, and towels changed to your requirements.
The guest house is a 5 min walk from a big supermarket and bus stop(£1.50) to bus station, but is on the outskirts of st andrews and too far to walk into town and you would need to rely on a lift/bus or taxi to get around if you don't have your own car.

I would have no problem recomending this guest house to anyone, would definately stay there again as Elaine is a fantastic host

“Sensational accommodation and hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2010

Stayed at Balrymonth B&B for 5 days and was extremely pleased. The accommodations were 4 star, very clean, comfortable and very close to the center of town. The breakfast selection was plentiful and supplemented by snacks and other fruits. The hospitality made the package complete and the owners provided plenty of advice on how to spend your time in the area as well as entering us in the "ballot" for the Old Course at St. Andrews. Highly recommended.

“Small gem on the outskirts of StAndrews, worth more than 3 stars!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2010

Excellently appointed B&B at a reasonable cost. Room was spacious and well thought out. Mini fridge in room was a nice touch with chilled water and fresh milk.

Free Wi-Fi was also a welcome addition.

Owner was very helpful without being intrusive and provided useful local information and recommendations for dinner.

All round a good experience.

Thanks Elaine.
