“Lovely Pinewood”

Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Karen, the owner, during our stay. We arrived a bit late and were immediately made to feel very welcome. Although the terrible storms has caused an electricity outage the day before our room was lovely and warm, clean, tidy and welcoming. Our friends arrived the next morning and Karen kindly let them into their rooms and provided us with tea, coffee & shortcake in the lounge, it was only 9am! The parking was ample for the 3 big vans we had between us and there was a path into the woods to walk the dogs just down the road. Karen provided a very nice packed lunch as we were leaving too early for breakfast, which lasted us well until the evening. The days we had breakfast it was superb (maybe that's cos someone else made it!), and we cleared our plates with gusto!
We both suffer from bad backs and found that the beds were excellent, hardly a twinge in the mornings, unlike most other places we've stayed, and a very good nights sleep too!
Have already recommended Pinewood to friends and hope we have another husky race in the locality so we can visit again!
Thanks for a superb weekend!

Julia. Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you and thank you for your great review. I know that when you are racing the dogs and come in at night you are all exhausted from a busy day. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay and managed to relax. Hopefully we will see you next year.

A very warm welcome by Karen, unfortunately the warmth was in the hostess but not in the rooms. Been a long time since we've had to sleep with clothes on but this was it.
Appreciate no guests for some time before us so perhaps the heating in the guest accommodation had not been checked recently, as Karen said heating had been on since 10am and the house was not very warm, this being 4pm. The situation did not improve overnight or in the morning, all rooms were very cold including en suites. Radiators had no heat at all. Trying to warm up at 5am with a cup of coffee only to discover milk in bedroom was rancid.These comments were offered to Karen at breakfast and were met with " I will get my handyman to check this at the week-end" , and she will check all the trays in the rooms, so let us hope next guests fare better than we did. On a positive note coffee in guest lounge most welcome, breakfast choice very good.

Thank you for your positive feedback on some aspects of your visit. I am sorry that your trip was not as comfortable as I had hoped. I have taken action to address some of your comments which I hope you will be happy with. The radiator in the bathroom has been bled and is working fully now. I have had a plumber look at the less efficient radiators in the house with a view to upgrading them. With regards to the milk, after looking on the box in my store cupboard I find that the milk was not out of date until January 2012. I have however thrown away all the cartons from that batch and replaced them with newly purchased milk. I will keep an eye on this issue in the future. It is tough to receive a low trip advisor score after having so many excellent reviews but it serves to keep me on my toes and am happy to take your comments on board

Home away from home is Karens ( the owner ) motto. She made us feel so much at home that made my family so comfortable . Pinewood is the best welcome to scotland

Karen and Tom made our stay at their B&B a very special experience. They joined us in their lounge in the evening for snacks and drinks and very enjoyable conversation. They truly treated us as quest in their home.

We stayed there partly because it was close to Dundee (business) and partly because we wanted to do some sightseeing around that part of Scotland. The location was very good. Close to Edinburgh, close to St Andrews and also very beautiful. Lovely countryside but accessible. Many attractions in the area. Also info of other interesting places available in the house. Accomodation was spatious, warm and comfy. Very clean as well. Prices affordable and worth the quality we received. Breakfasts were good as well, good range of cereal, cooked dishes and lovely freshly brewed tea and coffee. Landlady was very helpful, open and friendly. Made us feel welcome and happy. We will recommend this place to family ad friends. It was really nice!
