As someone who masquerades as a golfer, the opportunity to spend sometime meandering in the footsteps on the greats on the various links in and around St Andrews was a chance I wasn't prepared to pass up.
As we were a party of 4, the democratic decision was to stay at the Rusacks, we had on our previous golf trip in North Berwick stayed at The Marine, which is another MacDonald hotel.
The hotel's proximity to the Old Course being the clincher. The hotel was part of a package which allowed us to play on 3 on the Links trust's golf courses, one of which would be the Old Course itself.
We spent 3 nights at the hotel, we didn't have a room with a view, more's the pity. The views at dinner more than made up for it.
We found most things to our liking, we dined at The Rocca each evening and availed ourselves of the bars within the hotel.
My request, prior to arrival for a firm mattress and a bed-board were provided. The staff were welcoming, we experienced no issues during our stay.
