“A nice surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We booked our stay at the Balgeddie House hotel for a couple of nights whilst I was on business, and went from 19th and 20th Jan on a 2 Night room only package, although we had breakfast and evening dinner at the hotel both nights.
The Hotel was great. It has recently undergone refurbishment with a new extension added last year. We stayed in the new extension. The hotel is located in a quiet part of town, but close enough to make the centre of town within 5 minutes in the car. The staff on site very friendly and polite.
The room was first class and we couldn't fault it, it was immaculate

The quality of the food in the Restaurant was ok, but nothing exceptional, but we did eat there on both nights (for ease really). It wasn't overpriced, it was cooked well and arrived piping hot, and there was a good selection of wines and drinks to accompany the food. The vegetarian choice for my wife was very limited, and the same options the second night.

I will definitley stay at the Balgeddie again, but may dine somehwere else to to enable my wife to have a better choice of vegetarian meals.

Room Tip: The superior room we had was superb, and located in the new part of the hotel

“best xmas break”

I booked this hotel for my self and husband from 23th Dec for 10 nights. It was dinner b&b.We were in the new part of the hotel. the the room was excellent. very large and modern also spotless clean. We had the xmas dinner in the nairn suite, the meal was fab( cant see why anyone could complain, maybe they should do it at the time and not on HERE) , the staff where very good at there job. Our whole break was great. My husband was recovering from an operation and all the staff were very good with him. The manager Alan went out of his way to be helpful. suggesting local places to go and walks in the area. The dinner on new years day was by far the best meal for me, But have to say we never had a meal we didnt enjoy. Even when my husband didnt go for the dinner it was no problem for me to get sandwiches to take up to him. We didnt use the leisure centre but are planning to go back in may with my 2 grandchildren for a weekend break. fantastic place and staff. well done xx

Room Tip: all rooms in new extension are great

“A great Christmas Present”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We booked our break at the Balgeddie House hotel as an alternative to christmas presents, and went from 6th - 9th Jan on a 2 Night DBB package with the 3rd night free B&B. The Hotel was great. It has recently undergone refurbishment with a new extension added last year. The Hotel was tucked away in a nice quiet part of town, but close enough to make the centre of town within 5 minutes in the car. The staff on site were good, polite, pleasant and helpful. The room was first class, and the Pool and facilities top notch, we couldn't fault it.

Very well surprised at the quality of the food in the Restaurant, where we ate on all 3 nights, its as good as we have had. It wasn't overpriced, it was cooked to perfection and arrived piping hot, and there was a good selection of wines and drinks to accompany the food. If there was one criticism, the portions were really much bigger than they needed to be, so there is room for cutting back without leaving Diners feeling any drop in value for money.

There is a pub onsite which had a friendly barman who was more than happy to accomodate a sad Dundee fan desperate to see the live scottish cup game.

We spent the weekend travelling around parts of Fife we hadn't been to before, or visited for some years, so the central location of Glenrothes was ideal for touring.

All in all enjoyed the Hotel very much and it is definitely on our list of Hotels we will return to.

Well worth a try.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us and found the facilities comfortable. We are very lucky with our local kitchen team who have been with the hotel for many years delighting our guests with good wholesome home cooked meals.
Unfortunately Spencers Bar will not be open on your next visit . It has just closed to make way for 3 new Garden Rooms that will offer more excellent accommodation for our guests. The Garden Bar is of course still open for your pre and post dinner enjoyment.

“XMAS LUNCH”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Xmas lunch was the biggest rip off and the worst value I have ever experienced in many many years of eating out . The lunch was £50 and was worth £20? £25? I realise that staff have to be paid extra to work on Xmas day but at £25 the hotel would be making a good profit on the basic ingredients . Why do they charge an additional £25!

I had gravalax - well actually it was a slice of smoked salmon and bore no relationship to that product . The main course was the largest rip off as it was pressed/tinned slice of turkey - not even real turkey for £50! The sirloin was also from a catering pack tin. The hotel should be ashamed to serve food of this quality and to be profiteering.

We are all very disappointed that you felt that your Christmas Day Lunch was not good value for money. The hotel has built its success in offering value to our customers and on our customers returning again and again. The number of satisfied customers we had on Christmas Day attests to that. Many of our Christmas Day customers are repeat customers over many years. It cannot be that these customers felt that they were not receiving the quality of food or standard of service that such an important day demands.A number of our Christmas Day clients have made provisional bookings for next year, without them knowing the menu or the cost. This surely provides strongevidence for our customers trust in us. I would urge you to contact directly with the hotels management so that we can fully understand your disappointment and perhaps we can learn from your disappointment.
